Its been quite a while since I leveled in the old word so I chose cataclysm time walking and went on my way. I just wanted to take a minute to brag about how amazing the horde quest line is in Stonetalon moutain. You really do feel like part of Krom’gar’s army and a proud member of the horde. Slowly rising through the ranks was such a neat idea, coming in from ashevnvale with other soldiers being a grunt and promoted to sergeant and up throughout the quest like. Such good flavor.
It does make me nostalgic for Garrosh’s Horde and even shows at the end how things could have been different with Garrosh. When Krom’gar makes the decision to drop a bomb on the druids (including a local tauren leaders son) purposefully. Garrosh appears with his Kor’kron and slaugthers Krom’gars men , publicly denounces his actions of murdering innocents, then kills Krom’gar himself.
This whole zone is just amazing and even though its all the way back in cata it is my favorite quest zone to this day! Kudos to the devs in charge of creating this zone. I think part of what made this so great was that there werent really any BS side quests, every quest led up to the goal of total conquest of Stonetalon and pushing the Alliance forces back.
The singular story on the zone was unique and felt good. Most quest zone these days have multiple story lines some just being some silly BS reference to pop culture that doesn’t really go anywhere. Which to be fair Stonetalon did have one too (big daddy - bioshock refrence) but even this quest was involved in the singular goal of routing the Alliance and conquering stonetalon.
