Do not know how many of you out there remember this but the Stitches questline in Duskwood that unleashed a level 23 elite monstrosity of death and destuction.
Prior to the Cata revamp of the “Old World” Stitches being unleashed on the village of Darkshire in Duskwood was like throwing a rabid pit bull into a gaggle of kittens.
When you finished the questline and Stitches started his ponderous walk of death, and you were tasked with stopping him, before he got to Darkshire…….“the bones, look at the bones!”
It would take about 8+ same level characters to take him down. The town bells would ring in alarm……. the guards would warn of his coming…the whole dynamic of Duskwood changed on his march of slow but most certain death.
I miss you old school Stitches…

I remember the big lug being unleashed and an occasional helpful soul typing in all CAPs in chat: STITCHES ON THE ROAD! to warn people.

I loved stitches. Scared me half to death the first time I encountered him.

I remember getting crushed by him several times on that main road.

Pretty sure he was at least 30, possibly 35.

Yup. Original Stitches was a level 35 Elite. He may have been nerfed to level 23 later, but when the game first launched, he could even kill level 50 characters.

It was always awesome to have a full raid people battling him as he came down the road. I miss that!

Stitches! It’s hard to believe the undead themes actually used to be scary in this game. I hated going to the plaguelands and Felwood… so creepy. Deadwind pass!

Definitely remember Stitches. I also remember Mor’ladim before he got nerfed also.

Vanilla Stiches owned bones and was my favorite vanilla quest.
Stitches was 30-something- maybe 35ish but his HP pool and damage was easily on par with a 50+ instance tier tanky elite.
If he was uncontested he’d kill all the NPCs on the way to town and kill basically all the night watch NPCs minus the leader. I unleashed him across several alts and intentionally scouted to make sure other players were on the road.
A lot of people (who are dumb) skipped Duskwood for some reason so many people didn’t seem to know that Stitches was not easy to kill, so it was hilarious if you spawned him and high level players (30’s-60) who were traveling to/from Stranglethorn by ground were in the area because they’d often run into him and be like “I can take this guy” and then get completely ran over.
One of my fondest wow memories was summoning stitches when some 50-something Paladin was passing through- the guy tried to kill Stitches and died, the melted down in area chat. He died 3 more times trying to kill him.
Of my more distinct memories I have used Stitches to kill:
-That Paladin
-Some level 60 priest who was in T1 who decided to fight Stitches for some reason
-A full party of low-20s who thought killing him provided some loot
-at least 3 different level 30-40 players
-Like probably over 2 dozen players who were leveling in the zone in one go because people kept starting to fight him, then ran when people died so he leashed and got his HP back.
Stitches ruled. I also enjoyed summoning the elites from the blood of heroes in the plaguelands.

I remember casually walking down the road in Darkshire, minding my own business then i saw Stitches walking towards me. I was alone and had no hope of surviving a fight with him, so i ran off the road into the wooded area. Unfortunately by doing that i aggroed a couple of wolves. While fighting off the wolves, Stitches came over and one shot me lol.

Deadmines and the Defias before you even got in there were deadly, it was where I learned how to LOS mobs those casters could bring you down in a hurry.

Everything about old school Duskwood was epic. Anyone else remember the old Legend of Stalvan Mistmantle questline before Cata destroyed it? Yeah. when they revamped it, they cut out 2/3rds of the questline and it morphed into “because worgen”.
