This is the white thundering serpent you used to be able to tame by killing 10 of the opposite faction without dying in bfa and getting a quest pop up that lets you become neutral to all mobs, which made the allied serpent in Vale of Eternal Blossoms turn neutral and letting you tame him, a year ago this quest stopped popping up so wondering if they fixed it or if anyone has tried recently and the quest still doesnt pop up now?
Does it have to be different characters or could you kill same character 10 times?
I believe you can kill the same character 10 times but theres a 10 minute wait between kills before it counts the next kill. But the problem is Im reading online that people arent even getting the quest anymore after killing 10 enemy players.
You don’t need to have the actual toy N’lyeth, Sliver of N’Zoth to tame these serpents!
Its actually enough to have the quest item with the same name: N’lyeth, Sliver of N’Zoth
Make sure to be in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms when doing this, as some have reported that the quest fails or the item disappears if you phase
So, all you need to do it:
1: Be in War Mode
2: Kill 10 players of the opposite faction without dying
3: This will give you the quest: Servant of N’Zoth for Alliance, and Servant of N’Zoth for Horde
4: Accept the quest and receive N’lyeth, Sliver of N’Zoth
Ones you have accepted the quest, make your way to the The Golden Stair, use the quest item (this will make all friendly NPCs neutral) and tame your serpent
Yes if you go though a portal you will shard swap and the quest will fail.
The quest pops can be kind of finicky. One thing to know the quest is attached to getting the Horde or Alliance Assassin Buff were you will appear on the map. Some times the Assassin status is buggy. There will be times you will acquire the status but not get ether of the Slayer quest or the Servant quest. Some times it will award you the quest after a number of kills as an assassin and other times you will just never get the quest once achieving assassin meaning you haft to do it all over again and see if the quest pops. I know this from personal and group experience with my BFA guild.
The quest is definitely still in the game and doable but it is likely just as buggy as it was in BFA. Best of luck if you want to commit time to attempting it I would recommend looking for a group to help you out doing this. Even then with the pop being rather buggy there are not guarantees it will quick and clean.
