Still nothing on Totemic and Stormbringer

Well looks like we coming in last as is tradition,

Archon and Fatebound are in the new build, only things missing are now are Rogue - Deathstalker and Shaman - Stormbringer and Totemic.

Other Hero Specs are already getting changed dramatically, I’m still worried they’re limiting our changes and feedback during this time where things can actually happen… :frowning:

Even class and spec trees are getting massive changes, so much pruning and QoL happening, still nothing on Shaman. My hopeful guess, maybe in the next week or two we will get revealed in the next Alpha build.

Lava Lash has been the big dam ability more than SS has. And SS spam didn’t pop up until the Legion Rework and went away again in Slands. Before L rework LL was the reset ability.

One thing to note is that some hero specs like keeper of the grove have been available for feedback for a very long time and still haven’t received any dev attention or communication despite needing a lot of work. So while it sucks to be the last class to see the hero trees that doesn’t necessarily mean they will get less attention.

I honestly have no idea how they decide what to work on and in what order. It makes no Fn sense to me that Ret got a massive rework in DF but it’s still getting a lot of early notes and updates to fix very minor issues the spec has meanwhile whole classes and other specs that sorely need attention get crickets.

They said in an interview recently that they literally, on purpose, give more attention to classes/specs that have more players playing them.

Do you have a link to that?

Because holy self-fulfilling prophecy, Blizzman.

Where did they say this?, if so that’s ridiculous of them to even say that!

juzt out of curiosity when did this start. Because in wrath it was your lowest priority button. Rarely pressed. Legion and BFA I agree LL was also really bad.

Or was this like, recently in DF and SL. Admittedly didnt enhance much because I hated their covenants.

No kidding. People stop playing a class because that class gets behind in design and needs help. If the devs really are intentionally ignoring them due to lack of population that’s just… foolish. Foolish and lots of bad words.

It was an interview with Nagurra where she asked basically if two specs share a hero talent setup but it sucks for one spec but is strong for the other. do you buff it or nerf it? And they said they will handle it based on the higher amount of players.

cata mop wod and now again in SL DF

Just adding you both in, the question is at 16:45

To be fair it’s a tough question and answer. I don’t think it has to do with popularity more so tuning and changes for balancing.

It’s definitely not more popular classes are getting more attention as it was mentioned. I think that’s a little over exaggerated.

I interpreted it as, if 80% is playing one hero spec, they’ll try to adjust the other shared spec.

Edit: also just wanted to mention I’m not promoting someone’s YouTube, personally I had no idea who this person was till trying to look for the interview.

That’s fair. But it’s a bit of semantics. If they are going to make tuning decisions based on spec population. I think it’s a pretty fair assumption to make that they will put more effort in other areas for those specs as well. But again, fair enough point.

I just did all of wrath classic as spellhance, and you still pressed SS over LL… LL was just always lowest prio in wrath classic.

But I can see it being maybe better in later expansions…

Wrath was just press SS to get the most possible msw, and also it hit swith both weapons so you got 2 FT attacks,

then begin lightning weaving.

I understand but the way you wrote it seemed very differently in my mind, as if Shamans just because not as popular they don’t care. But I can see the confusion.

It was a tough question and answer to be put on the spot.

But a fair reply from the production director.

When asked where they said it, I did clarify what they exactly said.

And to be clear, what she was asking was say if Totemic is OP for Resto but garbage for Enh, what will they do. And they said they’ll make the choice based on spec population. Example given, if 80% of players are playing enhance, they’ll buff totemic. And vice versa.

I’m very frustrated that at this point I don’t even want to touch Ele sham in S4 of DF because I simply refuse to go back to the hot garbage (no pun intended) that is Lava Burst Build. I agree with all of your points, however as someone who plays Survival Hunter often the spec went from less than 70 parses in SL to the numbers we have now, we will survive. Unfortunately, SV is still the red-headed stepchild so it’s likely that would be the same situation if we keep going down this road with Elemental.

People can call it Fire build all they’d like but the entirety of that, and what they’re effectively forcing us into with the Ancestors, is just a LB machine and it’s bland and interacts with all of 1 other core button in our kit: Flame Shock. Stormkeeper, hell even our spenders, are simply complimentary to 1 button and it’s depressing. Liquid Magma isn’t even part of our core kit and is strictly only taken to further exacerbate the problem of abusing an unintuitive and shallow gameplay loop. I could genuinely come up with other ideas for the direction of the spec and I feel as a community we could come up with a better idea for Hero Talents.

Devs, if you’re reading this I want you to know that I am unsatisfied with the direction of this beloved spec, though I know you are trying. However, I do with and strongly recommend more communication if you are equally frustrated at the community’s feelings toward your work. Please let us help you, but that cannot happen without a clear line of communication.

I think it’s safe to say no shaman wants to be locked into fire, we all want our lightning since that is basically shamans unique thing.

They’ll rename flame shock and go…

“Look Shamans are not fire… they are molten laaaaavaaaa casters” lol

I may be ignorant, but aren’t we already there? Flame shock got changed to volcanic damage. I don’t think that’s anywhere else but is really just fire damage?
