I still think they should just combine Taste for Blood and Blood Frenzy runes, get rid of Quick Strike, and just give ARMS a chest and hand rune that revolve around Mortal Strike. Fury is mostly fine outside the janky rotation, even 2H Fury, but I think people should be able to play Arms in SOD if they want too. Arms doesn’t have to be as good as Fury, but it should be a middle of the pack alternative at least.

Arms is a great chance to give warrior something that can be strong still in non-raid conditions but also viable in raid. I.e. you see things like boomkin and Spriest that are viable in raid but monsters outside of raid.

The hardest part is Arms is so far behind that it needs an overall 50% dps boost to catch a ret paladin in a raid environment, which favors warrior to begin with (no armor, unlimited rage, etc).

  1. Quickstrike needs to be off of GCD like in Cata heroic strike. Its a bad DPR rage dump that doesnt fit in the spam of low damage special attacks that 2h warrior currently is. Raging blow, MS/BT, slam, overpower, execute if sudden death, whirlwind is 9 seconds worth of GCDs to cast. You have no room for quickstrike. If you choose to play a less optimal way that leaves an opening here or there, quickstrike is also so pathetic and opportunities rare enough that even on PTR its like 2% of your dmg. (or just delete/redo the rune)

  2. Execute doesnt scale. It has no AP coefficient. It quasi-scales through more rage = hit harder but a 100 rage execute will never gain damage for the rest of the game. Even in BiS gear on PTR and over 30% bonus dmg from tier 1 core forge and deathwish it caps at 6k on a crit. Meanwhile starfire is already pushing 8-10k range.

  3. Mortal strike does no damage. Out in the world with armor, a starsurge does over twice the damage of a mortal strike and a chimiera shot over 4x the damage when you compare a damage trade (i.e. hitting the boomkin or hunter). Its 30 rage for an attack that often does less damage than a moonfire dot. In a raid environment, with max world buffs, and a 5% or less armor target, a MS crit is like a wrath crit… its terrible.

  4. Taste for blood leaves overpower at a 5 sec CD and it makes your rotation janky and if a target dodges you get no windfall for it as its already on CD. Taste for blood in original form never had to deal with this. TfB should make OP a 1 sec cd or have a system where a dodge can add a charge or stack to its usage.

  5. 5x sunders takes a warrior almost 8 seconds and 75 rage to apply in a game where you die in 2 globals. rogues and priests can insta apply it though? Adding a heroic throw type ability that applies 5x sunder would be a huge QoL upgrade. Insane this hasnt been addressed all of SoD while other classes get better versions of it.

There are more things that could be raised, like spell reflect, a way to mitigate more dmg passively, etc that would overall make the class less insufferable to play but these issues are a great starting point. Arms should feel like the 2h weapon specialist spec while fury is the fast attacking bloodlusting spec. If fury has a slightly higher top end in raid and arms has a slightly higher top end outside of raid but both are viable choices that would be ideal. At a minimum Arms needs damage that is competitive with Ret paladin, seeing as the Ret can do so much more like become immune to dmg and heal itself multiple times over… yeah thats kind of an advantage.

Just spec 2H Fury, and make a macro that changes Bloodthirst’s icon to Mortal Strike. Perception is everything.

They should just dump quick strike, make colossal smash, tie it to 2h and mortal strike some how and balance it in a way to be competitive with dw fury.

The good warriors are doing fine. But yeah, Arms needs love.

They literally described this game by saying “Warriors are too good.” Which was never true. Don’t expect anything.

Warriors were only excellent with Bis gear and massive support. Which was just built off other classes strengths and world buffs. Top in pve dps and massively supported pvp.

But because devs respond to the cry babies. This is the game we get.

Yeah if you lose w buffs it’s night and day difference. I go from being right below the top rogue to middle of the pack instantly

Warriors really need a buff they should be undisputed top dps due to how every other class is better outside of raid

I do wonder why arms has not had any buffs… they could do something similar to melee hunters and have stacking damage modifiers, seems just that would help a lot.

it is odd, and it seems to be acknowledged everywhere - from forums, to streams, to other websites. Just dont play arms. Its a spec that has been completely neglected. Basically every class has every spec it can imagine getting attention but Arms has 0 feedback, 0 changes, 0 buffs, and is left as useless. And this isnt hyperbole. Oddly hunters have have 3 viable specs, and then when an OP spec gets a reasonable nerf they all start making threats and it gets immediately reverted meanwhile Arms is literally doing half their damage. Less than almost all the tanks. The next worst dps spec is way above arms its wild.

The gap from the general bottom of the chart to the very top is smaller percentage wise than arms is to the next worst dps spec. How is this possible lmao.

Well 2 of the hunters specs are identical honestly, we will see if melee turns out ok. Hoping for it tired of trap meta. Still don’t get why arms is left alone… the same way hunters have a stacking modifier for raptor strike they could do somthing like that for arms.

Buff warriors IMO

It feels like all the energy and focus went into Gladiator Stance over Arms in SOD. That would be a little more forgivable if Gladiator Stance didn’t suck at everything too except a select few PvP scenarios.

on ptr its not even good, but its dmg is similar to arms while also having at least some utility so while its bad its not AS bad

the fact sunder is baked into its rotation is big, shield slam actually does dmg (a lot more than mortal strike lol) and all the modifiers helps the non-scaling execute button with 100 rage get sort of close to a 1.5 sec cast starfire on a target that has no armor left …

shockadin is more dps than an arms warrior now lol
