I’m curious how many GD posters are in the same boat. Maybe I’m too jaded from shadowlands. Maybe I’m just getting old and boring. I just do not see the hype for Dragonflight. Cloned GW2 mounts and talent trees… that’s really it.
I have not purchased it yet, but I will. I have spent a lot of time in the Alpha and Beta which let me think it through and make up my own mind on it.
I like the expansion so far and think I am going to really enjoy the open world activities, crafting, etc. My casual self is looking forward to it much like I enjoyed MoP for similar reasons.
What other people think or do should not really influence what you do. Make up your own mind and do as you wish.
flips the boat
Im not overly enthusiastic about DF but I still purchased it. It is almost certain that I will play it enough to get my money’s worth out of it.
I purchased it, basically to do pve stuff without (hopefully) having to grind ap/leggos/traits/corruption/dom sockets/etc…
I couldn’t care less about dragon riding or the new race/class.
I bought it, finally back to more basics, no systems clogging things up, no need spend thousands of gold just to play a character, the new crafting changes, it’s a step up already from the last two.
I ahve not because i don’t have the money. Car repair first and bills. Fun later.
Im mostly just hyped about the professions, and the new class, and dragon riding. The talent trees are way better too
I think Nixxiom lays a lot of it out well. Dragonflight is the back to basics and simple that countless players asked for.
I’d almost consider this vanilla 2.0 because so much of what they’re changing going into 10.0 is to set them up for the next several years imo.
I am getting it to give it a fair shot.
I enjoy crafting, and world quests. So a revamp crafting system deserves a fair shot from me.
Now if they focus heavily on group content updates, and not open world content and progression. This will be the last chance Blizzard gets from me. A company that can’t even get player housing going one of the most requested features for years, I feel like they are saving that in the back pocket to pull out when they REALLY messed up so badly.
This company just annoys the heck out of me.
It continues to bother me that this community misuses the word hype so often.
I guess for me hype is a feeling.
You can get the vibe from a community based off a new expansion coming.
If I recall. Wrath and WOD hype was crazy, and the vibe the community gave was intense. The amount of passion players had oh boi it was cult like.
Now? instead of people getting excited, they are more like having hope it is good. It just feels weird. Like a community that hopes for the best and expects the worse. The mood of things is kinda sad to be honest.
Okay.
Thanks for the update.
I haven’t yet, I don’t like preordering digital copies of games unless they offer some I want for preordering, if they do, then I preorder right before release. No reason to give them money early for a game that will always be in stock and offers the extras the day of release as two months before release.
I do plan to though. DF looks great, a much needed return to form that scraps the failed systems from the last three expansions. I’ve played since 2008 and have learned to taper my excitement since 2014 when WoD flopped on launch, but this is the first expansion I’ve allowed myself to be excited for since then, the content looks that good.
Literally made a thread about the lack of DF hype yesterday. I STILL don’t even know anything lore wise except DRAGONS.
I’m probably still gonna grab it down the line. Leveling my alts army rn while just raid logging on classic
That’s the point.
There isn’t a covenant sig ability/ covenant class ability / conduit / soulbind / lego / lego x2 system layered on top of the game to mess it up any more.
I feel like everyone forgot BFA and how awful that was.
Neck leveling via island spamming
Azerite armor with completely imbalanced traits that you couldn’t really target
Having to grind to revered with 4 factions and raid and time keys and arena and bg grind on alts to get your azerite powers
Having to grind dailies to get keys to visions to fish corruptions
Having to grind visions to power up your sanity meter bs
Having to grind visions to get currency for the vendor
Having to wait 4 weeks for your vendor rotation to come up
I feel like I can’t breath and I want to scream just thinking about BFA systems.
That’s the key feature of dragonflight. Not having that any more.
I’m all in. Dragons, Dracthyr, dragon riding, new zones, new quests, new crafting, new pets to tame, new battle pets to get. This is my game, and it looks just fine for me. I also had no major issues with SL or BFA, but then I’m a simple gamer, and this is the only game I play.
DF to me, so far:
Blizz: Here’s 8 new dungeons. gg
Me: huh… ok? Is that it?
Blizz: Oh there’s a raid, too.
Me: But what’s it about?
Blizz: Dragons n stuff.
Me: “n stuff”? What’s that mean? What’s the STORY behind all this? What’s the motivation?
Blizz: Gear? iLevel?
Me: But what’s the STORY?
Blizz: We already said: there’s DRAGONS. Just… stop bothering us and fix your UI.
Me: I can’t. Every time I resize the chat window, it reverts back to default size. It’s broken. Oh-- and one of the main Warrior abilities, Test of Might, is still broken.
Blizz: We’ll fix it later.
Me: WHEN??? Why aren’t you fixing a BASIC UI issue???
Blizz: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! You can level up alts faster now!!
Me: … nevermind…
I 100% agree with the OP. There is, so far, NOTHING about DF that has me excited. A new treadmill to play with my friends… ya… but “logging on to play with my friends” can be accomplished in OTHER GAMES, TOO, Blizzard.
You might want to take a deeper look at the implications of that.
I’ve preordered, so I’ll be ready to go when the expansion is ready! I’m excited for the theme of exploration and think it’ll be a breath of fresh air after the Sylvanas era.
The distancing of borrowed power, revamped professions and other changes also seem like they’ll be good changes!
