Still confused on brew mitigation

Hello, i recently rolled monk and am still confused on how purifying and celestial brew works… is purifying brew like a heal when i get to x amount of stagger?? Also what other spells can i use to instaheal? Ik expel harm is one of them but it doesnt do amazinf heals (im kyrian)

Purifying just rmeoves the % of your stagger bar.

Celestial Brew will use a portion of the removed stagger from purifying (you can ssee a buff in your buffs) and create a shield out of it. Generally a massive one.

Your only real insta heal is Expel harm. YOu can use Healing elixirs if you talent it, otherwise your healing comes from keg smash with your 4p, or from hard casting heals.

Your Stagger Bar is like a traffic signal, and Purifying Brew makes it go green. I remember it used to be better and got rid of % of the whole Stagger Bar instead of what you’re currently staggering, but it works.

Celestial Brew is a fat absorb that has (imo) too long a CD. You get rid of a lot of stagger with Purifying Brew and then you juice up the absorb that you get.

Brewmaster has never really had “good” self heals. We have Expel Harm. You can talent Healing Elixirs if you want. But what Brew excels at is not getting oneshot by melees.

Hmm. Quick run down starting from the top. Brew mitigation is Stagger, Shuffle, Purifying Brew, and Celestial Brew.

As a brief example, if you had 20% stagger and take a hit for 100 damage → 80% of that damage is done instantly and 20% of that damage is taken as a DoT. During combat keeping your shuffle buff going increases the effectiveness of stagger by 100% allowing you to convert a higher % of a hit into staggered damage.

As you take more hits you build up your stagger pool higher and higher starting from light, to medium, to heavy stagger. Purifying removes damage from that stagger pool. It’s not a heal or an absorb but it helps remove damage you would otherwise be forced to eat without it.

Each time you purify from your stagger pool you gain a stacking buff towards your next Celestial Brew. Since you can not stagger magic damage the most effective way to deal with a large magic based hit would be to Celestial Brew before taking that damage. Otherwise its just a chonk absorb for you to use whenever you need it.

For self healing. Expel Harm is alright, the main benefit there is that it draws in your gift of the ox spheres, which are a pretty substantial heal and have a chance to proc twice from celestial fortune. Most of your healing is going to come from these two sources in normal situations. If you have the tier set then Keg Smash becomes another very reliable source.

Other than that, Kyrian potion, Chi Wave for non casted heals.

Purifying brew removes 50% of your current stagger pool, if you’re currently staggering 100k damage purifying brew will remove 50k from the pool. When you purify you’ll recieve a buff that boosts your next celestial brew by 20%. This buff stacks up to 10 times and you gain a number of these stacks depending on what stagger level you are at when you purify. Light stagger gets you 1 stack, medium gives 2, and heavy gives 3.

Celestial brew is a simple absorb shield. Use it when big damage is coming your way.

Magic damage is staggered but at reduced effectiveness.

Yeah I think I looked at an old beta article to double check something and didnt realize it got changed. Good catch

This is what i do and it has worked up to 3000 M+ rating. Make the following weak aura and follow it brainlessly.

Purifying Brew (PB)
Celestial Brew (CB)

PB if 2 charge and stagger > 0%
PB if stagger > 60%
CB if Purifying Chi > 4 stacks

As you learn boss mechanics then you can save CB for those big hits.

Edit: Expel Harm (EH) is just used to suck in healing orbs. Just ignore it as a heal. Cast it when you feel low and hope to suck in a bunch of orbs. Once you know the mechanics you can pool health orbs and suck it in after a big hit. Again make and follow this brainless weak aura.

EH if health < 70%
