So despite the high price, I do like the mousepad and the mouse looks nice, so I mayyy be willing to shell out $200 for another mouse and a pad.
After all, getting the included Lil’ Flameo pet would be pretty cool, and then I wouldn’t have to worry about spending Tenders on it if it shows up on the Trading Post at some point.
However, I’ve had a SteelSeries mouse before (Aerox 9) and it started to have issues with scrolling where it would randomly insert scroll-ups when I was scrolling down.
Has anyone got this new mouse and have any opinions on it, e.g. is the build quality better? Is the paint holding up?
I might get lucky and have a chance at the pet. My husband was talking about getting a new gaming mouse and I asked him to consider the one for the WoW promo.
I can afford the mouse but I just bought the brand new Razer Naga and I can’t justify paying that much for a pet and a spare mouse.
They need to rerelease or remake the g600… my last one died on and now I’m using a razor which is okay but it’s just not the same. Everything I have is Logitech except the mouse now. God I miss that g-shift button
Yeah I’m only considering it because of the pet. The mousepad isn’t a big deal and I’ll probably get it anyways. I hate that the pet is tied to the mouse though because I didn’t have a lot of success with my last StealSeries mouse.
They used to make a really incredible wireless headset the artic 7 I think… got the artic 9 after mine broke from a half decade of hard use and wear and tear from travel and it was the cheapest piece of plastic ive ever owned.
Sadly they seem to be going the same route as razor. They started off with quality products at a premium price only to lose the quality part.
I bought a razor naga mouse.
One of the buttons started sticking within a month.
For how much they cost, I’d assume the quality to be higher.
Logitec isn’t cheap either, but they tend to last me years.
I still have an old G19 keyboard that i use as a back-up.
I am also a (former) G600 user. Best mouse ever, until it finally died.
The Redragon M908 (yeah it’s spelled re-dragon) is a good replacement for me. Side buttons feel good (similar to G600), no meta but there is a surface button that I use for mount that works out well.
Razor hasn’t been good for a decade… I had my first faulty product from them in tbc.
Now I have a literal wish .com 20$ mmo mouse that someone im pretty sure hand built from a do it yourself kit and outside of an annoying to find driver has worked flawlessly for four years.
I bought a wireless Razer DeathAdder on Black Friday 2019 at the same time I bought the Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop that I still use to this day. Both work flawlessly.
I’m curious about the longevity of these things too, but I think it depends on the user as well. Some of us drive our stuff harder than others do and wear it out more quickly, just as some of us probably get what should’ve been labeled a faulty product.
But the problem with a true durability test is that you won’t really know how durable something is for everyday use until long after anyone cares about it. Think you’ll be able to ask anyone in 4 or 5 years whether their mouse is still holding up?
I concur with most feedback here. I was a razer customer for geez I think a decade even… but my last razer mouse starting giving issues only about 18 months from purchase. Which for a mouse you pay over $100 for (well over in fact) i expect some durability out of them. Not to mention I take care of my things. I know how I work for my money so I don’t throw bang slap my mouse or other peripherals.
So I changed to Logitech last fall. I’m very happy with it. I’d tell you the model but I don’t remember and I’m not home atm.
I was actually looking at that exact mouse the other day and seen the price and thought it was just a cheap knock off… for the price I might pick it up. Thanks
Well, I’m not using the Aerox 9, but I have been using a Rival 5 for nearly two years now. For reference, my previous mouse was a Logitech MX518 that I used for close to 12 years. It actually still works and is now my laptop mouse after I retired it due to responsiveness issues that made it unsuitable for gaming.
So far I’ve been impressed by their products. Also got an Apex 5 keyboard that I’ve been using slightly longer than the mouse. No issues in either product. Tiny bit of surface wear on the side of the mouse where my thumb rests, but that’s to be expected after two years. All the buttons still feel as responsive as the day I got it. Very slight learning curve when compared to my old MX518 as there’s one extra button plus and additional paddle style button when compared to my old mouse (functionally that’s eight buttons on the Rival 5 versus five on the MX518, but I’ve grown to really like it.
All that being said however? I say if your current mouse is a gaming mouse of some sort, and if it’s still working fine, then don’t rush out to replace it just yet. $160 is a pretty hefty chunk to drop on a mouse, especially if you’ve already got a gaming mouse that works fine. I’m also personally iffy on wireless as I’ve never had a good experience with ANY wireless mouse/keyboard I’ve tried. Could just be an interference issue on my end, but I’ve had enough issues with them to know better than to drop large amounts of money on something that might not work properly for me.
And really, if the main motivating factor is JUST the pet, maybe rethink this one?
I bought the non-wow version of this mouse last year, but returned to pretty fast. i preferred the logitech mmo mouse more. it felt better and was way cheaper. Ive moved on the the G502X now though. its really good. I prefer less mouse buttons actually. less mis-clicking
Yeah I had an MMO mouse before, fully intending on using the buttons and even started getting used to them. Then I just forgot about them.
Maybe a lot easier for someone who’s new to MMOs to pick up on. A little more difficult to make it a habit when you’ve been PC gaming for 25 years though without an MMO mouse.
