Thanks though I’m sad to say I just tried all of this twice over and it unfortunately didn’t work for me.
What version of proton are you launching from?

I’ve tried several now.
Where is it trying to write to?
If its loaded to the internal you might be running into storage issues?
Literally what is the point of this comment in reply to that?
Everybody knows this, doesn’t mean an improvement that affects a decent portion of the playerbase can’t be fixed.

I think you might want to check the steam deck forums.
If you haven’t gotten in yet
Try changing the proton to 8.
Then do not use the download thing icon were you log in on the left
Use the download manager at the top right
Update for classic went in without a hitch
Change the proton then use the download manager at the top left not the icon at where you hit play and it works fine
Change the proton to 8 then use the download manager at the top left when you bring up the games menu not the icon wheel where you hit play . The update for classic went in without a hitch try the one up top left

I’ve tried that still doesn’t work tried all the different options.
I´ve got a friend trying to get into WoW on her steamdeck with this same issue. The update seems to be crashing now, telling hjer something about not being able to access files.
The latest ive tried that did allow me to download the game is go into where you installed battle.net for me it was games/wow/worldofwarcraft then i deleted the retail folder then i tried re-downloading it and it worked. So maybe whatever version of the game folder you have try deleting it?
