Steamdeck for WoW?

Just pre ordered a steam deck for WoW, anyone else going to do that?

Not really interested enough for a solid pre order. Maybe I’ll get one in the future.

I wasn’t super impressed with the first round of Steam hardware…definitely going to wait and see how it turns out.

why do i need a steamdeck when i got a pc

So, basically a Valve brand Switch, but a lot more expensive?

Is that a new console released by Steam? Can it be upgraded and repaired like a PC?
Because one thing I learned about electronics is that they tend to self-destruct.

I reserved one for the mere price of $5, you can always cancel later. I love me some switch but this thing just goes to show you how overpriced nintendo’s outdated hardware is.

I don’t really see much of a niche for it that isn’t served better by either a tower or a laptop.

I originally got a switch for the portability and to play some games I was interested in. In my 30s I’m just not into Mario games and the like anymore. Got an Alienware laptop hoping for that portability the switch could provide and it just didn’t work out either. The laptop is now downstairs is just another room of my desktop. Hoping this is the niche particular I’m looking for.

I am not sure there will be enough storage space to play WOW.

The cheapest one won’t have enough but the other two have 256 and 512 GB SSDs.

The smartest take.
Steam machine was a failure and the steam controller was awful. I assume both of those were prototypes/beta tests for this device so it’s better to wait it out.

Though I do hope it does well.

Probably be convenient for crafting or gathering. Can’t see it being that useful when it comes to combat unless you play a demon hunter with the few buttons it has.

Could be good, could be bad. That said, I do love how Nintendo always is a sort of trend setter with their innovation. Basically build a prototype for the market. People see that the idea actually works then they try to improve on it while Nintendo goes to break new ground elsewhere as companies behind the curve try to improve the old fad two years later.

I remember when the Wii came out and everyone said “motion control is a dumb fad lmao”, then the Wii dominated the market and suddenly Sony and Microsoft were trying to do the motion control gimmick. Sadly the Wii U was a colossal failure but it did give them very valuable insight when making the Switch which also dominated sales on its release.

i didnt hate the one that let me stream from PC to TV. but all in all i just never used it, i prefer sitting at my desk. The controller was a shambles though

I’ve read conflicting details about the performance. A reviewer claims it’s as powerful as an xbox one/ps4, which would be a great deal at the $400 price point. The lack of OLED is not really an issue as much as the non NVMe storage on the entry model.

I think what a lot of people don’t realize is the potential. We have decent Wii-U and PS3 emulators that should be able to run on this thing. A pocket PS3, Wii, Wii-U, PS2, play store apps, your steam library, uplay and EGS, xbox game pass, battle net, PS Now and many others.

This obviously isn’t the first pocket PC, but it’s the first I can think of with this level of performance for only $400. A lot of them start at around $700, with some as high as $1200.

I’m very skeptical but also very interested. I really hope this thing is as good as they claim it is.
