I’m actually glad Valve is taking a stab at conosle gaming..
…in that being brutally stabbing it dead, resurrecting it as PC gaming and going “Hey, PC’s can work as a console too, enjoy 100 thousands of our games on your couch and TV. We love fans, love steam.”.
I’m legit excited for it.
Simply because it will give the experience of having a console but with the freedom of the PC. ..Granted that already happened with mini PCs and building PC’s to make it look like consoles but… it doesn’t count until Valve does it.
I’m not even being fictitious when i say that. It’s like, nobody gives a poop about PC Handhelds until Valve made one one day, and all the sudden, everybody and their mother has a PC Handheld. Even Microsoft frankenstiened their Xbox on a modified Rog Ally. It didn’t work, but the PC side still works so, it’s the thought it counts. And it seems like we will see a surge of Console like PCs in the future. Or how to build one yourself.
My absolute favorite is the steam controller. Oh my giddy aunt, I LOVE IT. It’s like you take the steam Deck and turn it into a controller. It’s Playstation with it’s symmetrical shapes, XBox buttons for compatibility reasons (not every, infact no non PS game use dualshock buttons UI lol
), the touch pads, and my favorite, 4 programmable back buttons.
Save state is just a click away.
The only problem i will have with Steam Machine, which is the same problem with Steam Deck is… it’s linux once you get away from the console friendly GUI. But other then that, that’s really my only gripe with it. Go Valve. ![]()
