First time playing rogue in retail and find the stealth is absolutely useless.
90% of trash mobs can break me out of stealth and ruin my openers so what’s the point? And the ones that aren’t supposed to be able to spot me do it anyway if i get too close or even when i’m not very close at all.
I played rogue in classic and loved it. I felt like a rogue. I had a clear advantage and utility making me a useful spec to have in your party but right now in retail i’m just another melee dps.
Please bring back rogue :’)

I find myself only finding a use for stealth to set up Improved Garrote, as from then on, I’m just spreading my dots. And if I’m honest? I enjoy not being reliant on it, being able to actually tackle enemies face-to-face. It’s far more than Devour Demon Hunter can muster (although that probably says more about the dire state DDH is in…)

In group content, I agree 100%, stealth is almost useless. World / solo content is a different story. I’ve played this game for 20 years and there’s nothing comparable to what stealth provides.
I have alts of various classes I play from time to time. Rogue has always been my main because of stealth.

Rogue stealth is very good even in group content still which is why people still stick with NE because they have access to Meld.
It is more accurate to say that the difference between retail and classic is that you will use sap a lot less in group content as well as Blind and Distract. Modern group PVE content does not make use of Sap, Blind and Distract as much. But the WoW team has tried updating Sap, Blind and Distract to be more useful for modern PVE group content.
