Is it just me or are other rogues’ stealths breaking for absolutely NO reason? Being 100% out of combat, not taking any damage or being flared out, etc. Nothing. It’s just one moment you’re stalking about at a distance without being seen and then suddenly you’re visible clear as day?
I feel like if I so much as sneeze, my stealth will break. I’ve only been having it happen as Assassin spec, and I feel like it’s because I don’t use Subterfuge as I do when I play Subtlety spec because it never happens if I’m playing that (I don’t use Subterfuge as Sin because there are other choices that have priority for that spec).
But even if some other rogues out there are experiencing this anyway even with Subterfuge, raise some hands please D:

I have noticed this as well. I don’t take any damage but I pop out of stealth.

I find it happening a lot in BGs after I put rupture up on anyone and then try to restealth or vanish. Half the time I just don’t drop combat until that rupture falls off. The other half of the time, I vanish and try to sit back waiting for a good opportunity to reopen or run if the fight isn’t salvagable only to find that I’m now visible and being absolutely destroyed. And yes, this is without any debuffs or DoTs on me whatsoever. I have also checked combat logs to see that no other AoE abilities have broken me out of stealth. This is all running as sub without subterfuge.
It’s a great time to be a rogue.

My stealth keeps dropping without any reason….
As Outlaw…

So it is without suberfuge that our stealth will sometimes randomly dissipate for no reason… I’m glad to see I’m not the only one. Time to figure out a new build I guess revolving around 'fuge until a hotfix lol
I haven’t tested while talented into Subterfuge, though I’ve seen speculation that this talent has something to do with the integrity of stealth before. Perhaps I’ll have to try that out at some point and see if it makes a difference.

Doesnt matter if you have subterfuge or not. The random stealth breaking is horrible in DF. You can be 500 yards from the combat and you’ll pop out. I have to essentially make sure im about 1k yards or more to make sure i dont randomly pop out. P sure its AoE that has some hidden range of doing nothing that blizzard (a small indie company) still fails to target and fix.

Sadly friend this has been an issue that’s gone all the way back to WoD, its very annoying.
Back in WoD I had video of it breaking because of non damaging aura’s that were creating the problem.
THIS is part of why I dropped my rogue and play other classes.
Anyhow here is what I am talking about, this is from WoD I think,. sorry this is the very last bit of MoP, I think it was pre-patch??
Notice at 21 sec frost nova goes off, he’s waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of the way and totally safe.
Nothing hit him, but stealth broke.
This is not the only aura that was doing it back then, and as I remember there was a Paladin one and a Druid one… I think the druid one had to do with a proc aura that did zero damage.
If I remember correctly with the mage cold snap had something to do with it back then.
Any way, this is always the result of very low quality attention to detail on the part of the people doing code… They’re likely under paid, and as a result don’t care.

Good lord… That’s really unfortunate.
I for some reason never had this happen to me as rogue during WoD or Legion, but since I’ve been playing rogue again in DF yeah this is still exactly what I’ve been experiencing lately. But if other rogues have been having this same thing happen for 5 expansions now with no hotfix, yeah there is an issue.

Mostly because they don’t care about rogues. Its a shame, no class no matter how you or I feel about it should be left out in the cold with no fixes going on now for almost 10 years.

Guess I should just back to playing my Sith Assassin on swtor lol -shrug-

Or classic vanilla or wrath, both are really fun. I think vanilla is the most fun, even if the class feels incomplete… Its strange

Yes and it’s infuriating in rated PvP. There is no reason for it, nothing in the combat log. I just randomly get unstealthed and insta targeted.

Oh, there’s a reason.

i probably would play classic but the combo points on each target have me looking the other way to not go that route
Its not bad, its actually a component of the class I genuinely love because it is high risk high reward and allows combo point abilities to be more powerful than they are in retail,

I liked this feature too however having the Redirect ability would still be nice. That’s why I just prefer the overall design of Cata/MoP rogue. I feel like in Cata everyone was given an ability that they had been severely lacking & needing in previous xpacs, and it wasn’t even a gamebreaking change either when they arrived in Cata.

I liked redirect as an ability because it gave you the option in both PVE and PVP to hot swap, but not do it all the time… It made you flexible but at the cost of that flexibility being on a CD. That was indeed a nice touch.
This part may sound strange, but the more I play “vanilla” the more I feel like its almost perfect… It does have a lot of problems, namely combo points dropping off the target when you even think about looking at another target… The TBC update was hella nice, this was the version of CP we had until the end of MoP.
The simplicity of the rogue class abilities requiring no stupid stuff like sanguinary veins or any other nonsense like Dance (I love dance but it ruins combo point builder power for subt) as a result I would rather have pre-dance era backstab damage / hemo damage as opposed to being tied down to spambush.
However 2 things I do like from TBC / Cata are Smoke Bomb and Step, both of these should have always been a part of the rogue class as trained abilities (not talents)
Something I somewhat despise about TBC / Wrath and even Cata talent trees are the +% damage to X ability talents that I know people think are “flavor” but frankly the abilities should have always done that kind of damage, you should not need to talent into more damage.
Instead talents should have changed how you can play the class in terms of tempo on certain abilities, talents that do not directly improve damage or anything like that are fine… Stuff like 1,2,3,4,5 points talents that reduce energy cost, er whatever / CD timer or something / extend duration are just fine as damage boosters…
However I prefer talents that actually do stuff, like for example “improved sprint” now your sprint breaks roots and snares.
So much potential is left on the table, tis a shame.
