Stealth as a mechanic just doesn’t make sense

Well, that sounds pretty boring. =/

I didn’t come here to be accosted by trolls!

Serious replies only please

Time to bring back ring of valor.

QQ op QQ. people crying like you are why classes are no longer distinct. aside from PVE design issues, but thats besides the point. I personally think evoker is the dumbest design in game, but hey it is what it is.

Personally I think that goes to BM Hunter which is a garage door opener spec, but yes.

Why is that?

blizzard wanted to pat themselves on the back and make a class with some cool charge casting mechanics, and instead of having the normal 40 yard range they made it 25 yards? because of this choice they felt the need to put shroud in the game so they could free cast in melee range, big channeled disintegrates while hovering away super fast, aoe splash damage, its just a bad design, clearly based on the PVE M+ design that has slowly ruined wow over the past few expacs.

The fact that rogues can sit in stealth and heal indefinitly in an arena setting is broken

eyes dont work, ever, you can literally sit in stealth and heal and wait for dampening

stealth is for cowards, there needs to be some counter play instead of just waiting for the rogue to “feel” like they have the upper hand when all their CDs are off while waiting and then open and kill in a stunlock you cant do anything about

it is super lame, delete rogues from the game, and DH’s while youre at it and add a cd to cyclone

Yes.

I think it’s pretty bad as far as arena goes. Mostly in that I hate all the immunities. Doesn’t create for good counter play.

CC immunity, casting immunity, temporary immunity from CC with dragon’s breath, etc. All of it. Just makes arena boring and it’s uncreative. It’s like the culmination of all the bad design decisions of the last 10 years.

there is counterplay, spectral sight, flare, all the mass aoe classes have to knock ppl out, eyes in arena. what are you on about

i mostly agree aside from

these not showing nameplates is silly because it is hilariously easy to completely work around if the rogue has half a brain

yes add the nameplates i agree

After spawning should remain until someone gets into combat. Plenty of time to get the game going.

I think the OP should stop stealing sheep. That’s just wrong.

(Also, stealth fine.)

Stealth should be a tool not a necessity. It should be used to open, and used as a quick defensive escape so you can recover a little but not all the way. Problem is its been tuned for rogues to recover all hp, all cd’s, and make as much distance from the fight as they wish with minimal odds of being chased unless by multiple targets, and even most counter plays can be interrupted making them useless on the hot-bar . At least hunters can only get so far and sacrifice a targeting defensive to hop into stealth.

Stealth needs to be nerfed to the ground in my opinion so you might catch them before they start attacking, but that would be a band-aid to the rest of the issues of said rogue class, of which there’s a naughty list rolling to the south-pole and back on.

Stealth never worked properly in the majority of MMORPGs I played… and this is going all the way back to oldschool games like Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot. In Camelot it was worse than WoW. Your caster would literally die in two or three hits and there was almost nothing you could do about it. And it was so fast.

The problem is, stealth in these games has no downsides. I think the only MMORPG that truly tried to limit stealth was Warhammer Age of Reckoning. If you stayed stealth a long time, your resources to attack and do damage were drained. This way you could still use stealth as a scouting mechanic, but not a wtfpwn you from stealth tactic.

Stealth should go back to having a 50% movement penalty

Or make it so stealth works like it does now in wooded areas or city areas so it can feel like you are being ambushed. But to have someone walking around invisible stalking you in a wide open space is just stupid.

Yea, I know… don’t bring realism into this.

But you can look at it as a bit of a balancing mechanic rather than a realism mechanic.

its way too late to unjump that shark

its where someone becomes hidden, hope that clears up the confusion
