Why is it that A. You always have the staff on your back in combat. B. When you take it out, you hold it at your side like a melee weapon. Wouldn’t be cooler if you placed the bottom on your ground and help it up like you know, a staff.
There are so many unique weapon animations they can add.
I’d love to hold hammers the way brewmasters hold staves (and be able to choose).
I’d love to see spell-casters using their staves to deliver spells.
More variations of where to place weapons (back or waist).
Having two weapons at the back the way Witcher carries them in the game.
That’s unique to the Brewmaster Legion artifact.
I long for the mage combat from Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition. Lotsa flashy staff twirling.
Yes! It gets a bad rap but DA2 had some amazing fun combat and great animations.
Yes, all of these things. And could we see scabbards/frogs/sheathes…? Like, there’s the Scabbard of Kyanos, heirloom scabbards, a kajabillion sheath trinkets… but no animations, just weird floating weapons.
They pretty much designed staff mage to feel more physical than DAO (down to including a halberd as one of the staves) and yeah, it’s nice
There’s just so much about the game now that is really showing it’s age when compared to other newer MMOs. I really wish they would have used this shadowlands expansion to set up for basically a WoW 2 complete rebuild of the game. Was no better time for it to than going back to Azeroth after the shadowlands
I have a lot of random ideas about weapons use in the game.
Stave/staffs should be held out in front of us, or slammed into the ground when using our powers, not held like a sword.
We should have the option to put swords and axes on our back or hip regardless of shape, size or one/two handed.
We should be able to use bo staffs etc as weapons like martial artists do, spinning them around, doing spin hits etc.
I love the way my KT brewmaster monk holds his stave, I wish we had that option for all stave holders.
Overall I wish more powers flowed through our weapons, staves, polearms, swords, axes, guns, arrows etc.
I’m sure I could come up with other ideas, but these are my tops ones.
One of the reasons why I never could get into casters in WoW, the casting always looked incredibly stupid.
Still giggle at Inquisition because the first time we see Dorian he’s smacking the crap out of some demons with his staff rather than using magic. Its like “Welp I’m tired and out of mana at the moment.” WHACK
That would be a cool idea!
I’m still confused as to why the new scythe polearms that were added this patch appear upside-down when sheathed if you look at all of the other scythe polearms in the game (scythe of the unmaker, spooky scythe to name a couple) the pointy side is facing up above your characters head so it looks proportionate when you’re walking around, but the new ones have the pointy side towards your feet making it look super awkward and weird
Never thought about that till now and I like that. I know New World if you are using 1 of their 2 staves they hold it exactly how you say.
Staves definitely need a casting animation, wands as well. Long overdue.
Also, let me get in here with the 25,783rd mention that we need fist weapons not to disappear in combat for monks.
I said it awhile back, but i personally feel for casters, if we have a staff we should have the option to have our animations show us channeling energy into our staff. And just use them in general more for our spells.
Arcane explosion? They slam the staff in the ground. A cast of pyroblast or fireball? They’re charging energy into the staff before swinging it towards their target hurling the fireball at them.
Stuff like that.
they should be ranged weapons as in the lore
Haha Dorian is a badass and we love him!
holds up the plushie of him I bought
I miss my amatus something fierce. I was so happy to hear him in BfA with the Kul Tirans
Honestly I liked that about lost ark sorc. She summons an orb on her staff then projects it forward and lightning goes forward from the sky. Pretty cool. I like staffs in wow and wish had some animations as well. Also wish shamans could transmog staffs.
