The reason I play RPGs is to have that feeling of progression. WoW’s progression system is very limited and static where all you do end game is farm BIS item slots. There’s no mystery in what to do, and it’s very tedious and monotonous to farm the same dungeon/raid week to week or pray to the magic box gods for your BIS.
Now that they have talents and talent trees, they should implement a progression system that levels up your talents. This way players will actually play the game to level their character and even try different talents in order to level them up as opposed to always just using cookie cutter load outs.

This will only ever exist in single player adventure game. There will always be BiS. There will always be the route expected of you to take to not bog down the group.
Developers can add a hundred layers of progression, multiple weapons and combinations, and you’ll meet the at the end of the day with a One True Build.

Do you mean leveling?
It’s neat, as you level, your character gets more talent points. They can spend them on new talents, and sometimes, spend a second or third point to empower existing talents.

Yup. I don’t know of any MMO that doesn’t have mathematically best builds that most players use.

If you aren’t simming your sims are you even trying?

They had those the last three expansions, and people hated them (AP). People wanted less borrowed power and got what they wanted.

“Sim yourself” is the blanket advice every dps guide writer should use so they don’t get people coming at them with comments about how their build is trash and it’s 800 dps less than another sim for their 45% haste character who doesn’t benefit as much from haste buffing talents.

I see you cleared heroic but no mythic yet…
You could try progressing through the mythic raid.
That’s what I think of when I hear the term “progression”
Gear progression this
Level progression that
What about raid progression tho?
Once upon a time, minmaxers were lifeless nerds not to be emulated.
Maybe, as WoW’s population has been gutted, that’s all that’s left now.

Things have become so stagnant that you could say we need a Static Shock
Btw when the hell are we getting what we need? To hell with all of these other heroes. I want irl Static Shock.
Damn, I don’t know. Going to need to sim that to find out.

Almost all of them do, but then most don’t explain what sims they’re using and there’s class discords that aren’t even clear or explain what sims to use.
So to me it’s so inconsistent on that end of things that it’s just an empty meme to say most of the time.
It would be if I told you to go fly a plane but didn’t teach you anything about flying it. You’d probably crash or not even try it.
The secret is: you don’t have to min max. You just have to google “WHAT IS DA BEST MYTHIC PLUSH SPEC” then watch the most popular streamer’s tier list that comes up from the last month week, and level and gear a character of that spec. You don’t even have to be good, just put in the application note that you are that amazing spec and you will get endless invites to 14s with people who don’t understand why the spec/comp is useful or how to pull around it.
The hunter writer made this page and it’s great, really they should add a link to this page if they’re telling any dps spec to sim anything.

Healers might use QElive. https://www.wowhead.com/guide/how-to-use-qe-live-tool-guide
Tanks can also use raidbots but it’s a gamble because they also need to not die, so the best dps build isn’t always the play.

Oh you mean like how players start all of their characters at level one and with each level, they earn a new talent point?
I could be mistaken but I believe blizzard already implemented this system into WoW

The method has been automated for the masses, but the spirit is the same: “I must refine what I am doing to optimal efficiency.”
That this viewpoint is no longer maintained by a turbo-nerd minority is a change from the past.
They turned the game into Diablo, this is why people are bored with it.

Yeah that would be ideal. You have new players going there to learn and they’re left with being told to sim something and may not even know what it means.
