State of the Game

It just feels like it’s been 2 years

Theres more observations here and around the entire internet that point to my statement of 2 mil if lucky. Thers ZERO evidence to even spit out a statement like “The 10’s of millions of players enjoying the game”, thats a FACT.

I mean you can go on at any time in a 24 hour cycle like i do because i sleep when i feel like it, and theres insane Que times, no one around the cities at all, not even close to how many there were 24/7 the first 2 months of this expansion.

leveling a low level toon, i have seen, from level 20-67, a grand total of 19 other players in vanilla, Outland, and Northrend, you call that 10’s of millions? I mean, i actually pray to see someone else around. Crystalsong Dalaran is a joke, seen 2 players the 5 times i went there doing message quests.

I will stick to my estimate of 2 mil if lucky.

I know there is no way to accurately give out numbers, since Blizzard is the only one who has that information. But going by what I see on the higher pop realms, the que times are still long on lower levels if you are leveling anything but a tank or healer. That to me means the people who have the new races available are not rolling a lot of them.

Used to be in the last few months, every dungeon at lower levels was new race, both sides. Now not so much. Higher levels? Still long que times if you are not a tank or healer.

Look at the number of servers, and see how many of them list as low pop. Then see how many are medium and how few are high pop. Keep track of it day to day, and at different times. It is steadily declining.

I put down the cause for the declining numbers can be because of the lag issues. I wish instead of working so hard to take things away, (water strider not walking on water), they would work on getting rid of the lag! Every major city has it to such a degree I hate to set my hearth there. This is why I liked having a set of portals in the Vale. Less crowded and less lag.

Which brings me to another theory. Why funnel us into a few cities, (Boralas or Dazar’alor) if we have so many people? I think they are aware of the shrinking subs and do this to make it appear they are not affecting the game. You can tell how popular the game is by how many playing the new expansions. When the high pop realms get a que time to even log into the server, then you know there are a lot of people. No que times now. Servers are still high, but not full. And even a so called full server, you can get in if you already have characters there.

I think the sharding is causing more problems than not. I am always surprised to see characters in my area that are not on my server. How did they get there? In trying to make the game seem more populated, they shift people around into less populated servers.

The pvp thing I think was a great idea. Those who want to pvp can flag, those who abhor it can never check Warmode and level and do content just fine. I think it eliminated a lot of griefing. BUT…it puts a strain on the servers to maintain this play style, as they have to shuffle characters around to get the pvpers some action. I guess you cannot please everyone!

waiting to see if 8.2 will interest me
