I am just going to touch on the core professions that everyone could have and the gathering professions.
Archeology:
No content for SL, I just don’t understand why, would it have cost us a raid tier?
Cooking:
Very limited variety of dishes for SL.
One can get all the recipes from the trainer except for one purchased with Revered reputation from Court of Harvesters but that is all.
Maxing out cooking takes almost no effort and then you are done except for farming materials.
Fishing:
Again limited variety, 6 in total. No special rare catches, no neat fishing goals, only a rod you can purchase at rank 1 a temporary bobber and a key for lock picking but only if you are a blacksmith. Remember all the cool things for fishing in Legion or WoD or Mists of Pandaria well this is what we get for Shadowlands.
Mining: Only 6 ores but wait there is a + 10 mining pick to take up bag space, and maybe give you a couple extra ores/100 gathered.
Herbalism:
Again 6 plants also has a +10 herbalism tool but why when you can farm any plant at rank one and with rng there is really no obvious increase in numbers by being 10 higher skill especially at max skill something achieved almost on the first day.
World quest: Cooking you can only get Aethereal Meat, same with fishing only Lost Sole, mining only Laestrite Ore and Herbalism only Death Blossom of course these are the items that everyone has a ton of so really not much a reward.
I am quite sad about this, Shadowlands in terms of professions has to be without a doubt the worst, laziest lamest expansion ever.
I really hope Blizzard adds something more in future patches, right now it is just pathetic.
Totally agree, its like they put NO EFFORT AT ALL into our professions, they left archaeology out because it would have forced them to think…This expansion has been a disaster on so many levels with no balance, Specs destroyed and players forced to reroll or quit because of Bliz not fixing the specs they broke, no PVP balance, severe timegates on everything, screwing us on old content, no worthwhile rewards for time put in. Crafting you can’t make gold because of too many Bots ruining the economy. This is not the Warcraft I fell in love with years ago, the new developers have ruined this game.
Engineering in Shadowlands adds nothing new other than a pet, but its still worth a profession slot for any character simply because it gives you so much. With Engi you get a portable mailbox, bank/vendor/repair, permanent goblin glider, speed boost enchants, portals for non-mage classes, and battle rez for classes without one.
I’m particularly happy with the Shadowlands Wormhole Generator. It can be used at level 1 engineering, and its basically a better Flight Master’s Whistle.
you won’t make money on herbs. take up alchemy or inscription. then once you have a bit of gold buy herbs on the ah and turn them into things and sell those things.
Ah my guild is going to go from normal carries to heroic carries so I won’t need any more gold generation, I’d just like some quality of life stuff like the Jeeves for when I forget to repair before a sanguine depths key xD
If there is one major reason they need to introduce player housing its this - to make professions fun again.
It’s obvious that they simply can’t achieve a ‘happy medium’ with crafting, between it being totally useless (in order not to clash with gear gathered in instance play) to so great that instance play becomes less relevant and people get bored with it until they are up to raiding. So rather than finding a solution to this conundrum, they just let it rot.
But if they introduced player housing, you would be able to make all the things needed for that area of the game on each of the crafting proffs, and the gathering ones would be used by the crafting proffs. Plans could drop off mobs or in dungeons or raids for special housing items, even fishing could fish up cute decorative items. And you could make a special oven or firepit or whatever (depending on your housing style) that could cook special meals. Even archaeology could find items to be used in housing.
Whatever others may think about the good or bad of player housing, it would give a huge boost to professions. And there are ways to improve even gear crafting if they just sat down and worked through the issues and came up with some creative approaches.
But it would take time, and effort and perhaps they just cant see the forest of possibilities for the trees of narrow thinking in the way.
Dokthar is correct; the heavy changes to professions, by way of perks and specializations, were made before WoD dropped, and then again with the actual launch of WoD.
I was in the forums for weeks on end, protesting the loss of sockets and personal blacksmithing and mining perks. But, raiders at that time ‘FeLt LiKe TheY wEre BeiNG PuNisHed’ if they skipped doing professions.
Blizzard hit the game with Doomhammer, and professions in WoW have sucked ever since. Hands down, the bottom tier of the major MMOs currently.
That said, I totally get why archaeology wouldn’t work in the realms of the dead. I was excited to see blacksmithing and the others had some crafting ideas in place. Until I realized Crafting Writ II only works on ceremonial gear -.-
need more scribe recipes. sadly lacking in that prof
not fond of the levels of the legendaries. Or i should say, not fond of how many it takes to get to level two. the mats arent exactly cheap and you have to make like 20 of the item to get to the next level? Bleh, lost interest
(I was going to make a bunch and toss them on the AH but prices went down enough to not irritating levels so I am sorry to say I am keeping my stuff)
You must live In the Matrix. Because It would seem you are blind to what the real world calls a loser lol Maybe someone who spends everyday on a video game perhaps?
they removed all of them at one point despite the fact players spent thousands of gold per recipe to get them when you had to buy those books- that everyone could roll need on btw. even without inscription. QQ
