State of:Kirin tor

In the PTR in the new portal room, we can see some kirin tor mages and banners.
What do you guys think, is this just gameplay?
or is only that the kirin tor never left in the first place?
i mean, the council can decide that… right? because as far as we are concerned… maybe they never left…

here is the 2 screenshots!

Also… i would like to ask,the horde also has kirin tor mages and banners?

Can we expect these guys go back to the nations of the alliance ?!
or they are going to wait until the world is dead and the alliance wiped out?

It’s hard to say exactly based purely off the portal room.

The Broken Isles portal has a Kirin Tor emissary in front of it that says “If you are looking to return to the Broken Isles, please take the portal upstairs.” The portal itself is maintained by Shal’dorei Arcanists. It’s weird there’s no emissary in the Alliance room? Did they think Horde players needed a little extra help to remember where the Broken Isles were?

The Crystalsong Forest portal has a Kirin Tor banner, but is maintained by two undead Argent Mage NPCs.

Interestingly, the Kirin Tor mages in the Alliance room are maintaining the Stormshield portal. Their equivalent in the Horde room are actually Mag’har Darkcasters:

(Unrelated, I hadn’t actually gone to the portal room in the PTR, but man, the Alliance one looks so much cooler and actually lived-in. Sorry for the junk links, I don’t have the trust level yet.)

Where there’s portals, there’s often Kirin Tor. I wouldn’t put too much behind it, providing support for a portal doesn’t necessarily dedicate one faction to another. You can trade services without being “allies”

Okay i checked again and yes, there is a kirin tor emissary.
All these 4 npcs, are new.

I wind it weird.
Because it seems like the horde portal to dalaran is an argent NPC.
but no sign from any sunreaver.

/tinfoil hat on
i don’t think that is a coincidence that the NPCS in the horde side are nightborne.

True, it may be nothing more than gameplay.
But it can’t be denied that with these NPCs there is at least a lore reason behind it, is the closest thing we can get to an ingame representation of the state of this factions.

But seeing that there is also an emissary in the horde side, then it seems like they are keeping their neutrality, for now.

Correct me if I am wrong but I recall the kirin tor helping with the portals during Teldrassil evacuation. Maybe some mages sided with the Alliance After WoT or are here to provide help like the UNO does.

It mentions they try to contact Dalaran, but I don’t think it clarifies if anything comes of it.

“I’ll send a unit of Stormwind guards to assist with the evacuations in Howling Oak and wherever else in Darnassus they can. Archmage Malin, get a message to Dalaran. Tell them the situation and ask if they would be willing to join us here in Stormwind—to get more refugees through portals.”

Thanks I had trouble to find it, I would think they send some help even without taking a side but as an humanitarian help.

Aside from the portal area itself, there’s also some Kirin Tor banners hanging on the walls of the hallway area leading to the big portal to Stormwind proper. My guess is that the designers put them there because it’s a “human magic” area, and they weren’t really thinking about the political separation between Stormwind and Dalaran.

A bit of both. remember that there are Kirin Tor mages that come from Alliance nations and they may have hired themselves out as individuals while Khadgar is keeping the faction and himself, neutral. Until Khadgar himself makes a move that’s clearly a throw in to a faction, it’s assumed that he’s keeing the group as a whole neutral while keeping a blind eye to what invididuals might do on their own.

It’s important to keep in mind that the vice versa applies as well. It’s likely that there are sin’dorei and undead members of the Kirin’Tor (not to mention a smattering of the Troll, Orc, and Goblin members) who have hired their services out to the Horde war machine or who have returned home to fortify their own nations

The Kirin’Tor may have started out as a primarily Alliance institution, but there is a large membership of Horde aligned races, and it absolutely makes since for Khadgar to keep the order neutral unless he’s willing to host another purge (and after decrying Jaina for doing the same).

My honest guess is that Khadgar has strongly encouraged the Dalaran magi to stay out of the faction war as much as possible, but given that he is probably still in Karazhan, it’s not exactly easy for him to enforce such demands. In Elegy, Anduin asks one of his magi to ask Dalaran’s people for help in summoning portals (as well as the Conclave for healers), but it is not elaborated upon as to whether they complied.

The Order of the Silver Hand at least seems to have joined the Alliance (or rather, broken into two, as Stromgarde seems to indicate, with the tauren paladins going back to the Horde side).

PROOF THAT THE ARGENT DAWN IS NOW HAORD!

I think Kirin Tor might return back the Alliance. Since Jaina did once became a Leader within the Council of Six. Jaina might probably bring the Kirin Tor back again with the Alliance since They still are a Human/High Elf Magical Nation left. They did once aid humanity during Second War and Third War and even Mop too.

i doubt that they are in good terms with jaina, but i can see some members vouching for her or the alliance.
maybe khadgar still consider her as a friend.

Or maybe they will just join team magni, that seems to be the case.

Yea. It would awkward for Jaina and Khadgar plus the rest of council of six to meet up again after what happened during legion when she raged quit when she found out the horde is coming back into the city.

Still you may never know.

My guess is that it’s because they wanted each portal to be maintained by a unique race.

Obviously, the Silvermoon Portal is maintained by blood elves, so they couldn’t also do the Dalaran Portal. Since Undercity is no longer a thing, they used Argent Undead to maintain the Dalaran Portal instead.
