State of Guardian Druids is Unacceptable

The baby fixes this Tuesday did nothing to help the current state of Guardian. The fact that they even made it live in this sorry state shows how incompetent the devs are when it comes to tank balance. There in NO reason why my Guardian should have lower health than my prot warrior that is 15 IL lower, while taking significantly less damage. In every way my 391 warrior outperforms my 405 Guardian.

In the top 1000 mythic plus runs, Guardians have a 0.1% representation. That’s 1 in 1000 representation. We have been the worse tank all expansion, and somehow blizzard decided to nerf us in patch 10.0.5.

My account runs out in 10 days and if there isn’t significant buffs (not minor band-aid fixes) I have no intention to keep playing. Guardian is the biggest joke spec in the game. Worse than resto shamans and survival hunters ever were. The microsoft purchase can’t happen soon enough because these devs aren’t doing their jobs.

Ima bet that guardian druids will be meta next season and everyone will complain about how guardians been op for so long and they can’t remember the last time prot warrior was even decent.

I was just looking and I couldn’t find it, but I think in an interview, ion said he doesn’t care to balance specs anymore. Resto Druid is good, so guardian doesn’t need to be. Something about diminishing returns on the effort.

The proof is in the pudding, so to speak. With the weak, off targeted “tuning” we’ve seen so far, it’s obvious nobody is looking too hard at the situation, and I don’t think anyone will be.

Tbh, if you don’t multi class in this game, you can really only play it once every 3-4 expansions. You need to keep a stable of at least 4 characters fully geared to enjoy endgame beyond doing fishing dailies and killing world mobs in the overworld.

I did, and like i said in OP it outperforms my Guardian even though its 17 IL lower.

I rather baby steps then one big fix followed later by nerfs because they went to far .

The 10% blanket nerfs to tanks ended up hurting balance more than it helped. The Berserk nerf also stinks.

yep. it’s a giant steaming pile of moldy cow crap.

Blizzard doesn’t do full reworks until major patches, and Bear isn’t going anywhere until they do that. If you want to tank keys higher than 20 or do Mythic raids you have to play any other tank spec. It sucks, but that’s how it’s always been. Your other three specs in the meantime are amazing.

I don’t see how they can hotfix their way out of this one. The problem is how much worse they made the Guardian tree in 10.0.5 - and it wasn’t pretty even before that.

Tanks should be an exception to this, if it is something they believe. There’s not many tank specs and anyone who wants to play one should get a good experience.

That’s fine, because he never said that.

Yea Ion is a bozo.

Just don’t turn them into the boomkins of the tanks, where everything relies on their CD being up.

Honestly it started even before that.
Breaking berserk/incarn in to 4 talents was the start of the issue.
At least cats can completely avoid it and do fine.
Bears absolutely must take at least 1 of them to get to their major survivability tools.

I assumed they changed berserk because of the mage tower. The encounter is easier as guardian now than it was when it was rereleased. Would be even easier with 10.0 berserk.

So its dailies and world mobs, or mythic content? no inbetween? I get that bears are not mythic raid or M20+ viable. but that’s a very small percentage of players.

If you want to be on the cutting edge of content, then having multiple alts is a thing, always has been, especially for tanks/healers because you’re mostly locked to a single spec per class

Waiting for that mindset to be remotely consistent across the board. Rogue has 2 S+ tier specs in M+ meanwhile Warlock/Mage have 1 average option and 2 stinkers.

There’s no shortage of feedback on exactly how to fix guardian druids. Fans and “expert” players of this video game have made talent mock ups, crafted all the theories, and spread all the spreadsheets.

At this point we’re just poking Blizzard with a metaphorical stick and saying “hey… hey… fix it… do the things… fix it…”

And so far they made it a lot worse with the 10.0.5 changes… then tried to rationalize their changes with some blanket buffs.

Their never going to just say “Yeah, look… we don’t get it. We know it’s not working but it’s a weird class and the Druid dev doesn’t play it. We really thought just throwing in a bunch of random new capstones would fix it. We’re surprised it didn’t. Lesson learned.”

So… here we are.
And I don’t know what their going to do next. But if it’s nothing that’s just another nail in the coffin of Blizzard’s new warcry of “We’re Listening!”

(Side note in your last blue post on this Blizzard, you said you would be adding more changes over the next week. That week came and went. Why no feedback? Did the one guy on the class leave again? Isn’t that a problem?"
