I’ve spent the past couple of weeks levelling an Evoker because it ticks a few boxes I like that I think most classes don’t:
I mostly PvP with my characters but it occurs to me that I don’t actually know how Evokers are doing in PvP right now. I’m talking about Dev here, I know Pres is doing pretty well.
Unfortunately there aren’t that many resources out there because they’re so underplayed for the most part. Is this just because they’re a newer class? Or are they struggling to get good ratings?
I don’t do PvP at all, but from what I have observed from famous PvP streams that Devastation Evokers are broken in PvP. But again I haven’t played myself and can’t tell you much and it was like 1.5-2 months ago.
I never touched Evoker because I don’t like not being able to see my transmog (that’s why I main Resto/Balance as a druid lol), but I made one recently just to get a bit familiar with how it operates.
The PVP stuff I see, especially from a Prevoker, is insane. The PVP talents all seem godly too. The CC shield with 3 charges on just a 1.5min cooldown, paired with Obsidian mettle. Swoop up can mess up with a melee’s burst. No wonder why Prevokers seem to be really strong just behind Disc as PVP healers.
Speaking as a not-very-experienced pvper:
I’d say dev is in an okay spot. At lower rating, it is simple to play and definitely one of the easiest classes I’ve found for climbing rating and seeing success.
When reaching higher rating, it begins to fall off.

They are not at all broken in PVP. They are probably the 2nd worst caster overall. Maybe 3rd.
Their defensives blow. Anything you cannot kite you struggle vs

Hunters
ANY caster
Literally their mobility is their only real defensive. They do less ST damage than most classes and heal less than every class
Renewing Blaze does not heal more than a hunter or soul leech in a shuffle round
Hunter actually heal more than Evokers
