State of Enhancement 9.2

Just wanted to post, because I left this dude behind in 9.0 (my favorite spec) and switched to warrior to help my guild. Left in October due to the state of the game. Came back last week, as I’m sure a lot of people did due to Dragonflight hype.

Basically enhancement is WILDLY fun right now in both wolf bone build and especially PLA. Reminds me more of cata enhance which was really fun - nice to see fire nova be useful.

I hope these new talent trees give us options for builds similar to what we have right now and am super pumped!

I’m also having more fun on my shaman than I have since… well, before WoD at this point.

Thats a good thing. Thats what matters. I think we all tend to forget that from time to time. Sure its great to build exactly like Icey-Veins or any of those other websites say. if your planning on doing the max level stuff. If not play the spec the way you want there isn’t really only one good build. Their are several really good ways to build and play a shaman. You choose which way that way is.

Ya know, I think a large part of my having more fun with my shaman is realizing that I play in groups about 5% of the time. And for those times, I’ma optimize my build so I’m not tanking anyone else’s playtime. But for the rest of the time, I’ve been running with talents & covenants & leggos that are fun for me to play with (even if they’re not “the best”).

Soo…frost witch?

Ha ha ha. Yeah. I played Frost Witch up until I got my 2-set, when I switched over to Wolf Bones. I love the random wolf procs.

But is he playing Necro frost witch?

a i said in my other post there is only one build for enhancement wolfbones or go home.

Wolf bones is garbage in M+ compared to PLA+necro or even SFD+venth

This is objectively, measurably incorrect. Witch doctor necro for single target/raids. PLA necro or PLA nightfae are both great for Mythic plus. For pvp witch doctor (3s, 2s, random BGs), PLA + wolves + ele blast venthyr (3s, BGs, RBGs), PLA necro (3s, BGs, RBGs), and doomwinds ascendance venthyr (2s and BGs) are all viable in pvp and shine in different ways. Enhancement has probably the most build diversity in the game. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Yeah, we have a plenty of options and all are subpar when compared to other melees in the game. Thats why we need to play double dps comps in 2s or with warrior/lock in 3s to get carried.

Enhance needs the same treatment as ww monks and dh’s to become competitive.

Maybe a baseline 25% healing debuff attached to lava lash (10 sec duration) and lasso in pvp talents. If they do this, enhance becomes playable.

Right now we are just a meme spec in 2s or “the grounding totem guy” in 3s.

Brother I never said we were S tier. Also, what does Skybreaker grant CDR to as enhancement?

Gives you insane cdr reduction on chain harvest and sustained pressure :+1:

So you’re essentially only benefiting from the increased flame shock crit chance to reset chain harvest faster? Very interesting I’m going to have to try that.

paired with theotar’s wasteland propriety, constant vers buff on party.
on fort weeks for HoA I run SFD+venth since my regular group doesn’t have any other venthyr. Crit stacked to 40% (so 90% flame shock crit with SFD), chain harvest gets down to a 15-18 second CD - without urh. With urh i’ve cast 3 back to back

I have a Skybreakers/Venthyr build and I’m having a blast. I like it better than PLA/Necro which feels like way too much set up for me

you would be wrong. there are three builds that are very viable

Wolf bones is the clear winner for ST but PLA is not bad for ST either. Venthyr skybreakers is also great for aoe along with PLA. All of these builds are more than viable. Most classes have only one they can even think about. I don’t see how it’s wolf bones or go home.

Even if it were how is that different from any other class? As soon as a particular build edges out in ST it will always be the favorite and played by most people in raid. That is the nature of not only the game, but the playerbase itself.

We get to have different playstyles for different situations and it feels nice to have ways to experiement while still holding up.
