So I have a question about the stat priority for Survival Hunter. I’m reading on Icy-Veins mind you that Mastery is our least desired stat which I dont really understand, so I’m hoping to get a better understanding.
Mastery increases the damage of our focus spending abilities (Mongoose Bite/Raptor Strike, Kill Shot, Carve, Serpent Sting, and Chakram) as well as gives us passive healing while our pet is out. Wouldn’t a straight up damage increase and passive healing be a good thing? I kind of understand why Haste is as high as it is, but Mastery confused me and I’m hoping to get a better understanding of why that is.
There isnt some intuitive reason why mastery is bad for SV, this is all a matter of tuning. If Blizzard where to give a higher %damage for one point of mastery, i could become our best stat, but they way it is tuned right now, you dont get enough additional damage from each point of mastery to make it worthwhile. The other stats just bring more damage to the table. Its simply a mathematical question.
Still remember when, at least before 8.1 as BM, I went all Mastery when guides said X amount for it and other stats and I my pets hit like trucks, which I found worth it at the time, given it could also be related to having optimal gear at that time as 8.2 made it kaput.
True lmao most of the bm did run the kill command talent i did go double pet full mastery gg on m+ i did the same with barbed shot aoe dmg it was free dmg man i still remember doing the same dmg than fire mages on big pulls cause of mastery
