It’s worth it. If the cost seems a bit high stop trying to level it and just cook the stuff you loot.

Its not worth the trouble.
If you leveled cooking at the launch of classic wow you’d have had the opportunity to make a lot of gold. Things are settled down a bit now and there’s only a small number of food buffs that are being used frequently so the margins for profit are narrower.
If you’re looking to complete the scepter quest You’ll have another opportunity to make great money off dirges food.

the inflation is high so it’s not particularly as lucarative as more cheesy ways of farming, but the 12 stamina food does sell pretty well on some days. Can go for as much as 20s-1g cooked, and under 10s uncooked.

Do you mean “is it worth it, as a money-making profession”? I don’t know.
I use wow-professions a lot, though sometimes I use some cheaper method in some situations (for example, to get from 160 to 190 engineering). They outline a simple method, but another may be cheaper on your server.
My level 25 used their “fishing+cooking” guide, and has spent almost nothing to get 25-level food for questing. But I’m not trying to make gold off of cooking.

I haven’t leveled it on any of my three sixties. I’ve thought about it, but I’ve never actually done it.
