Hi everyone – Posted this in General too, but thought the folks here might have some additional insight.
Now that we’re nearly Shadowlands and all sorts of stuff is changing, does anyone know where Starter Edition-only characters will show up when they enter the world for the first time? Usually it’s the starting zone for whatever race you’re playing, but would that change to the new Exile’s Reach area now? I’d like to double-check since I use this edition as part of a course I teach and want to make sure I’m providing current information to my students (and I have a paid account so can’t check it myself). Thanks in advance for any help!
im not 100% sure but when u start a new toon u have a choice of “exiles reach” or another option id assume is the home starter area for that toon
You’re only forced into Exile’s Reach on the first character on a new account. Once you’ve played through it once you don’t have to do it again, they start giving you the option at character creation to either go to Exile’s Reach or the starting zone for your race.
I have an unsubscribed account from a long time ago with a few characters that are over level 10 and I was given a choice where to start a new character, so it seems existing accounts that are under Starter Account restrictions aren’t forced into Exile’s Reach, only new ones.
On one of my starter accounts, I created a human character last night. I was given the option of starting in either Exiles Reach or Northrend Abbey.
FWIW, The toon got to level 12 and over 10 gold before I quit for the evening. Once i got to Kul Tiras, Junk drops often were worth 1 gold or more. Don’t know if those types of vendor prices apply to older zones at level 11-12.
