Started leveling a DH

I am having huge issues dealing damage. I mean simply that my damage is so low that it takes quite a while to kill stuff. I have been leveling multiple characters lately and this DH has been so slow its hard to keep going. When exactly do they start to shine?

I wrote you a haiku:

Who told you they shine?

Abandon all your false hope

Reroll to a monk

You’ll need a time machine.

At level 61

They don’t shine this expansion. 9.1 will see some solid buffs to damage, but right now, the damage is pretty meh. With that said, they are still super easy to level, and their ability to double jump and dash up terrain are definitely nice quality of life perks other classes don’t have.

level up another class

They do well once you get ahold of a basic rotation while leveling. Killing pacs helps so your eyebeam leeches more health for chain pulls . But don’t fret, it does get a lot easier as you level and get better gear.

If you have any questions whips me on the game! Chemistdh-Tichondrious

The only thing we shine at, my dear Bilbo, is running away from monsters in M+ like scared little baby deer that don’t want to be touched.

Maybe reroll. DH does some of the most dmg in the game and they will be busted in 9.1

DH, similar to a lot of other melee, really start to shine when you get higher item level. In fact DH probably has more reliance on gear than even a warrior or a rogue because our main method of sustainability, leech, is completely dependent on how much damage you’re doing.

For example, a fresh 60 with like 150 item level is going to fall over flat on his face in a m+ setting due to low health values and low healing from leech. However, as a 226 DH, I can shrug off most damage since my 30k+ dps on every other trash pull w/ leech, and my CA legendary healing, is constantly overhealing me. If things actually get hairy, such as when I inevitably pull aggro, all I have to do is pop blur and I’m basically an offtank for 10 seconds.

Not to mention the skill factor involved. I’ve been playing this class for 5 years, and every single ability from eye beam to fel rush has a specific keybind and is ingrained into muscle memory. I can vengeful retreat out of bad without even thinking about how to position myself or where the button is because I’ve been doing this crap for five years. A guy trying out DH as an alt isn’t going to have that sort of experience.

Al that being said, DH is in a bit of a rut so far this expansion, as you could probably tell from the negative press the normies in this thread are giving you. Unfortunately, as per usual, we rely on a lot of good stats and borrowed power to actually start seeing the numbers. Once you’re level 60, focus on getting at least 20% haste out of meta so you can get 2 death sweeps per demonic window. After that, focus on finishing your order campaign so you get the full soulbind tree unlock. Then, it’s just a matter of getting a higher item level. Tuning so far in SL has highly overvauled main stat (agility for you), which means item level is king. Keep getting those upgrades!
