"That said, there is one major outlier that we intend to tackle before then. We intend to make the following adjustments to Balance druid over the next 24-48 hours.
- The base damage of Starsurge has been reduced by 30%.
- Additionally, we’ve identified and fixed a bug in the Starsurge spellpower coefficient and this has now been corrected. Starsurge should be properly gaining 42.9% of spellpower as damage now, as intended.
- To compensate for this adjustment, we will be adding an additional effect to Starsurge that causes your next Starfire to cause 66% additional damage.
The intent is not to significantly nerf overall druid damage output, merely to reduce the efficiency of Starsurge specifically and shift the damage output of druids further towards their hard cast abilities such as Starfire."
I appreciate that they didn’t just nerf Starsurge and call it a day.
How do you other Druid players feel?
The coefficient fix should help a lot, plus forcing it to take two starsurges to really pump helps keep the one shots in line.
We’ll have to see how it goes when it goes live though.
Yet hunter pets out damage balance druids alone with the hunter just being AFK

The correct solution is to always nerf hunter so im down.

Good change. This is exactly the right move.

Hunter pets are not even remotely OP compared to everything else this phase.

Having been on the receiving end of this. It wont be enough.

Its a step in the right direction. I would like more damage moved from instant casts (for all classes that have gigachad instant casts) to casted spells.
Or at least require a ramp up for the instant class.
However the state of PVP needs be looked at as a whole as well. People are just dieing to fast. HP and survivability needs to be looked at as a whole. We are doing more damage then geaered MC players at 60 on a standard classic server, with level 40 hp.
Also, fix SW:D pls, its another instant cast that is hitting entirely to hard.

Good change, but boomkin need love.
Nerf boomkin burst, greatly increase boomkin DPS. Solves both PvP and PvE.

Their intention is admiral, but questionably executed. Buffing Starfire, which currently isn’t in use in either PvE or PvP, isn’t going to do anything whatsoever for Balance. The last rank of Starfire that druids have access to in P2 was… level 34. Needless to say, bad – and still only having a remotely acceptable cast time during Nature’s Grace. Moreover, its mana cost will make druids OOM if they actually want us to weave it in remotely often.
It remains to be seen where this leaves Starsurge. I suspect just the coefficient change alone would’ve been sufficient to bring it in-line with other things. Did they even know about or fix the bug with it getting +60% crit from Eclipse?
Would be nice if they could fix the bugs with Eclipse rune (doesn’t actually provide pushback protection), and buff Lifebloom to a remotely worthwhile level.
The nerf was needed, but the compensation is underwhelming. It should have been a 50% (or whatever) bonus to all nature and arcane damage for the next 4 seconds.
Then you’d get people screaming that Sunfire/Moonfire are hitting too hard since you could just snapshot them right after a Starsurge which could lead to Sunfire getting it’s damage chopped due to this.
Dots are perfectly fine though. Locks and SP are already a thing.
How about they change Fury of Stormrage to give you instant Starfire instead of Healing Touch like it was in TBC and WotLK. This means you would use wrath until you get the proc and then SS followed by a Starfire.
Gives you a reason to use both SS and Starfire.

As long as Wild Strikes is good for melee groups, I’m good, but I haven’t been using Starsurge, so…

How many hard casts do you get off in pvp?
How many Starfire casts can you get off in pve before oom?
How effective is the wrath cast on mobs?
My experience tells me that non druids do not understand how big a nerf this is.
Dont expect raid invites, dont expect above c tier performance.
Those are facts and the general wow population is okay with us sucking.
They are used to it.
Prepare to be told to just heal and respec resto… that is what is coming when scaling kicks in.

Kind of this, but instead of a flat 50% make it a +X spellpower buff for the next 5(ish) seconds so it scales poorly with followup instant casts and better with some wrath casts.

yeah, it would be much better for PvP and give them more flexibility in PvE. Though we aren’t fancy big city game designers, so what do we know?
