StarCraft Universe on Unreal 5 engine

StarCraft Universe

Hello everyone. Tired of WoW but nothing is out there that is better? I have played WoW since 2004 April so vanilla Beta. That’s 18 years of off and on playing. The game has changed a ton and children have been born and grown to vote since it’s been out. I remember teaching an 8 year old how to play and now he is 23 years old. Which is just nuts to think about.

World of Warcraft has gone from working as a team. The tank set the pace and made sure the healer never went oom. At least one dps keeps an npc on lick down so you can kill the other 3 npc. One at a time you ever wonder why the skull X moon etc are in the game. Well it used to be an addon. Blizzard took it and integrated it into the system. People today in WoW are very impatient and have 0 tolerance for teaching others. If you’re not perfect then you’re a failure. Which is sad as I didn’t mind explaining things and making people better at the game.

Now that we have Live and Old school servers. The game is splintering off. Tanks and Healers are not playing as much. So much so that when you que you are given bribes to play those classes. So what is Blizzard to do?

Well, simply make, StarCraft Universe in Unreal 5. Make it with three factions. Make it with just the Milky way Galaxy to start. You can have millions of solar systems with millions of planets, moons, asteroids and comets. You can terraform planets. You can mine planets or moons or whatever.

One character is really all you need. The customization of your character will be massive. Then once you level you can also get tattoos and cybernetics, bionetics, or DNA editing depending on what faction you are. We will start with the basic 4 classes each different per faction. But essentially a Tank, Healer, Melee DPS and Range DPS. For example a human tank may be outfitted with cybernetics to enhance his strength and hp. Heavy armor with heavy weapons. While a Terran may be enhanced with Biological enchantments. Energy weapons and shields are what they use mostly. While Zerg eats others and gains genetic enhancements. Maybe you eat a shelled creature and gain hardened skin. Then you eat poisoned creatures to gain poison DPS.

Why three factions well because two always becomes stale. Also the servers will be very simplified. Each planet/Solar system will be basically on its own server cluster. We can do one of two things out in translators for all languages which I think would be awesome. Or do servers by the most common language. Maybe two English servers, a Mandarin server, German Server, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese. But I think translated servers would be better. We have the technology. Heck I bet we can also have in the system a learn English system to help get the real life planet earth speaking one language.

I digress. So I would first do only 30 levels as levels aren’t what make you a good player. You make yourself good by enhancements and your jobs you do. Example explained: let’s say you start and you want to be a human tank. So you, like all humans, go to basic training for level 1-10. You first learn the basics from 1-5. Then you go to military jobs and learn what you need. You get enchantments as you level and as you do different missions. No one person is the same. You may log in and be given a mission that earns you a special armor or weapon or enhancement. But real life gets in the way and you miss two days so you miss those missions. Well you get to go on different missions that earn you different things.

By level 20 you decide to re-up in the military or become a civilian or Merc. Why go civilian or Merc. Well you can build a business or go deep into the underbelly of human culture. Maybe you and some friends make a guild and you build your guild ship and individual ships and travel far from earth. You discover some unknown planet or moon. You set up a base and eventually start a trading post and send an envoy to earth to set up trade and what not. Now you and your guild own this planet and are becoming very rich which lets you make more guild ships. Maybe your guild grows to a few thousand people. Now you can start posting raids in the boards and hire ships to help take over planets or areas.

Now having one server for all means millions of players and millions of people working towards a goal for their faction. Maybe there will also be a neutral Merc faction that all three factions can join if they do the correct things eating themselves rep in this Merc guild. But even without that this game will be like real life. You can gamble, do shady things or you can be in the military and believe in justice and honor it you can be an entrepreneur and build up an empire. It will be up to you.

Now you only technically need one character as you can once leveled up go back to start and level up the next class and so on. Ideally you have a main spec so Tank but a secondary class let’s say healer so a paladin. But maybe you’re a Tank and sub melee DPS so you become a Berserker. The sky’s the limit, wait never mind the universe is the limit.

This ever changing never ending game truly can grow to unlimited zones and planets and whatever. If done correctly. This can easily be the game people play for 20+ years. You know that would get us to 2043 which maybe by then we will have Full Dive. But until we have Full Dive we need something. StarCraft Universe is that game.

Sounds like you want a single player open world Sci Fi rpg.

No not single player. Sorry didn’t make that clear. Guilds would runna ton of everything. If you started a guild and your guild found a Moon and started to mine it then your guild would become rich. Your guild would be able to expand. Your guild would be able to make massive ships that hold little ships and hundred of player maybe thousands. Yes you can buy and upgrade a solo ship. However most things will be guild run. Casinos can be ran by a guild. Government can be run by guilds. Mining, manufacturing and so much more. The game would be all about people working together and having a good reputation or a bad one. Their will be a lot of solo content and you can be a solo character that is a part of the government or join a company or whatever. But sorry I didn’t make it clear enough that this would be a guild based game.

Sounds like a nightmare for anyone not there from day one.

Doubt Blizzard will every make another MMORPG, but I am surprised that there hasn’t been anything new from the Starcraft franchise in over a decade.
