Star wars and Star Trek?

So I know many of us grew up watching Star wars or Star Trek. My question is, why do you prefer Star Wars over Star Strek and vice versa?

Is it the story, character, world building?

They are equally grand parts of a Scale of Space Fantasy vs Sci Fi.

From most Space Fantasy to most Sci Fi:

  1. Warhammer 40K(blatant Fantasy)
  2. Metroid(uses Darkness as an Element)
  3. Star Wars and StarCraft(Psychic Powers given Spiritualism)
  4. Babylon 5, Halo, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, Stargate and Firefly
  5. Star Trek(Science-oriented)

Each Franchise’s flavor is wonderous therefore they are all equal in my eyes.

It’s a tough to choose one over the other, but I prefer Star Wars for the story, world building, and also because it has more fantasy elements.

I was a huge Star Wars fan when I was a child but in the 90s and early 2000s Lucas ruined the franchise then Disney ruined it even more.

So I switched to “ the dark” side and started watching TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise and loved it but ofc it was ruined too in the last 10 years with those abominations they called shows (ex: Picard, STD)

I guess if I have to pick between the two now I would go with Star Trek because unlike Lucas, Berman and Piller didn’t go back and ruin TNG, DS9 and Voyager.

They were both great and now they are both dead IPs. OG Star Wars was my favorite, but I loved alot of the OG Star Trek. RotJ is my favorite Star Wars and DS9 is my favorite Trek.

Edit: Big shout out to Stargate SG1, Bab5, and Firefly.

Absolutely love them!

I think Star Trek edeged out because it took space more seriously.
Star Wars never felt space big. Either you made it to ones distination or you got blown up in a space dog fight.

Liked Discovery. Not sure what all the hub bub was.

edit. why is there a force timer for release when you die to fatigue Blizzard…

The original Star Wars is the first movie I ever saw. My father took us to see it in our big green station wagon at a drive-in. I was four and sat in the middle of the bench seat in the front. To this day, there are moments in that movie I still remember seeing for the first time. It’s not only one of the best films in history and one of my favorites. It’s auto-biographical to me personally.

Sorry, Star Trek, no offense. You’re great, as well.

Why didn’t Wedge get a medal?
