Star Wars: Ahsoka series. The rogue Jedi Baylon skoll and companion Shin Hati. I was astounded by the feeling I had to their combined presence. There was an immediate recognition of something special about these two, that mesmerized me. They brought energy and mystery to the series.
Automatically conveying appeal. Even though these two characters were supposed to be villains. I completely fell in love with them and wanted to see much more of the couple in the Asoka series or even hoping to see them have there own series. Unfortunately The actor who played Baylon Skoll, Ray Stevenson passed away recently. I am still hoping that a movie or tv series continues their story line.
So did you also fall in love with these characters? And what do you think is the magic that brings these two into sharp focus and delight to an audience?
For those not familiar with these characters:
Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, characters introduced in Star Wars: Ahsoka, are a pair of Force-sensitive mercenaries who operate outside the traditional Jedi Order and the Galactic Empire. Baylan, a former Jedi Knight, trains Shin Hati, a young Force-sensitive individual, as his apprentice. Their relationship and actions are driven by a desire to break free from the established order and find their own path in the galaxy.
ChatGPT? I didn’t know you liked Star Wars.
Also they did recast Baylan with Rory McCann who is a very good actor and a good pick to carry on from what I know. I never watched season 1, but I am a huge fan of the late Ray Stevenson. He will be missed.
Oh that’s good news. I really hope Rody McCann can exhibit the same gravity of character. He did a great job on Game of Thrones as the Hound. At least I wish him all the best in playing Baylan. Although I think Ray Stevenson really embodied Baylan. Also Actress Ivanna Sakhno is confirmed to reprise her role as Shin Hati. Which is also fantastic. But the last we saw of this couple indicated that they had parted ways. Embarked on different paths. I hope their paths meet again so they can continue to be the dynamic duo.
I would hope we get a flashback showing Baylan Skoll bleeding his Kyber Crystal Orange…by stabbing it with pointy implements which is the same way the Sith Eternal bled the Planet Killer Star Destroyer in Darth Vader Comic 11: INTO THE FIRE Part VI: Exegol.
Rub in the fact that it’s Pain that causes Kyber Crystals to turn Orange or Red and that even the Kyber Crystal’s own Pain from being stabbed will turn it Orange or Red.
Make it clear that Baylan stopped stabbing when it went Orange because he lacked interest in going further to Red due to not having the level of Aggression that Sith have.
Make it clear that Baylan succumbed not to the Dark Side(Fear, Anger and Aggression as Yoda puts it) but the insidious Grey Side(specifically the Arrogance and Lust for Power)!
