Can’t get gem
Same. the ‘bonus objective’ disappears almost as soon as you enter cave sometimes - other times it stays but as soon as the legend ‘the cave is nearing collapse’ (or similar) appear the bonus objective text just… goes away. It never completes (even when it does you don’t get credit although can loot mini boss).

If people would stop pulling him out the cave on the rip, and making him leave the quest Area for the Bonus Objective you will get the loot, but no one ever listens and someone ALWAYS pulls him out… A buddy of mine, and i both went tank and taunted back and forth in the back of the cave to keep him from leaving from other people trying to rip him out by trolling. And got credit both times we did this for both gems. If you notice as soon as he leave the cave, the bonus objective goes away.
Not true, i have been in there for a few fights, he never got near the cave entrance, and still bugged out. a few times, i’ve gone in, never even got to the bottom of ramp inside, loot went off table for event. its bugged for sure.

Same problem. I keep killing him but the bonus objective never completes. Frustrating since I want that gem.
we got both citrines in 2 different ways , after failing like 10 times in a row. feels like luck has to be involved 
tanked him on the bottom left cubby for first citrine.
for the second citrine we pulled it outside before the blockage happens and tanked him outside without dpsing until the objective finally came back. then we burned him right outside the cave.
looks like there’s different ways to do this.
Yeah, this encounter is a mess, and the hotfix to make all gems available to everyone seems to have made it even worse.
Without open communication between factions, trying to coordinate a strategy to get-around the faulty code will be almost impossible.
Until Bliz fixes this, this fight is just not worth it; all stress, no reward.

Oh, this explains a lot. Still bugged.
Just did it twice a couple of minutes ago, confirming it is still bugged. Was hoping Blizzard would do a hotfix, but I guess they are simply not paying attention.
Sure would be nice to be allowed to get an actual completion on this guy. I’ve killed him about 10 times and still haven’t gotten anything. Which sucks, considering the quest says it rewards my BIS gem.

I can’t get the Fathondweller’s to drop. I have killed him 4 times today and that “cavern is about to collapse” message pops up like 5 sec after we pull and the objective goes away.
Bump, hoping someone at Blizz reads on the weekends…

bumping again, was lucky enough to one of the gems after like 2 tries, then to get fathomdwellers I havent had any luck with. Kinda frustrating.
Getting fathomdwellers to drop has been dumb. Its my BIS and im tired of just waiting for the event to happen.

I’m not even seeing the bonus objective showing up on my rogue, I can see the other 2 just fine, but this one doesn’t show at all. Tryed login off and back in, leaving and reentering area, reseting boss, nothing works.
It might work if they paid any attention to these at all. There hasn’t been a single blue post even acknowledging it.

I got mine on attempt 17. But I got it!
It’s a weekend before a US holiday, so I totally get if they don’t have the crew to fix the event… but they should put the gem(s) in the boss’ loot table at this point instead of tying it to the event itself.

Ugh this is the crappiest fight on the island and needs to be redone. Get rid of the cave in mechanic, it’s dumb.
for anyone still trying to get the event done ?, was with some friends, they swapped to area52 realm, and was able to finish event, and get both gems, may want to try it.
