Should I try to get a one handed sword and offhand, or stick with a staff? If so, which one handed sword and offhand would be the best?
Either way should be fine. There’s no enchantment for off-hands, so a 445 staff and a 445 sword+off hand should end up with the same stats. I keep an off-hand just in case I get a better optimized sword, dagger, or wand.
Doesn’t matter, they can’t roll sockets anymore. Vers/Crit would prob be best right now.
2 one handed weapons, you can socket both and corrupt both whereas a 2 hander can only have 1 socket and corruption.
Little late in the expansion but in 8.3 1h/off-hand was better since you could corrupt and socket both.
In SL weapons can’t socket and there isn’t corruption, so it really won’t matter. Though I’ve always preferred staves since it’s easier to get one good staff than a good 1h AND off-hand.
Plus staves are so iconic for a wizard; we can all pretend we are Gandolph ‘You shall not pass’
Speaking of 1h/oh vs staff, just something I noticed about transmog on the PTR:
The legion artifacts can be transmogged across different specs like they announced, BUT they can only be transmogged to another spec’s appearance if you have that specific weapon type equppied (1h/oh or staff). You can still transmog your current spec’s legion artifact to any weapon type like you currently can.
