Was just robbed of a winning roll for Staff of Dominance for my Shaman. I MS ELE but I was RESTO for Raid. They decided to loot council and not give it to me.
What do you guys think?
Is your raid focus’d on gearing for later PVE progression or are they gearing for your future OS that they may not be seeing as raid viable?
I don’t think staff is optimal for PVP so I think that’s ruled out.

Did you transparently announce you main spec ele in the raid before the start? Did anyone oppose it? If you haven’t, you have no right to compete for MS gear of other classes.
Gotta agree, MS > OS unless announced otherwise by a council member or officer.

You should get loot for spec you raid. That’s all.
I could heal my guild ofcourse. But i’m a shadow priest so i forced myself in raid as shadow priest.

I wasn’t mad and kinda rolled for the lol’z seeing if I could maybe get the staff.
My advice: if you PuG and get whispers if the group is missing heals, you can coerce them into letting you roll off-spec. Just reply to tell with saying, sure, I’ll heal, but I want to roll on ele gear, is that OK? Chances are they’ll say it’s OK. Then make sure to state it in raid chat before you start the run. If you do this though, you have to pass on healing loot unless it’s uncontested. You can’t double dip.

If they asked you to respec for the raid (even if you offered and they said yes), then they should have allowed you to have it. If you chose to respec without their requesting it, then for all intents and purposes, your loot should have been Resto-focused.

Staff is pretty weak tbh
The rules should have been outlined to you at the start but if you mained ele likely they should have let you win it.
If they forced you to go resto because they didn’t have enough healers you should have probably received it, however if they expect you to stay resto then it’s your choice to be in the guild doing something you don’t want to do.

If a raid rolls off an item then the person winning the roll should get the item. Items that are loot council should be named before the boss kill. You got screwed.

You’re raiding as resto if they wanted an ele sham they would have given you a ele spot. Since that staff has no +healing on it why are you suprised?
I think you shouldn’t expect any decent gear for your meme spec until the real casters have been geared up.

Ele shamans use 1h + Shield. So yeah, it’s a toy for you, you’d just replace it with real weapons soon.
Im not MS > OS, but I am in favor of sanity checks. Use your correct class gear.
If you are ele you shouldn’t want that staff anyway. You need a shield and 1h. Armor actually matters in classic.
Staff should go to Druid or mage/lock that don’t want to wait for mageblade

You get to roll MS on the spec you come to raid on. You don’t get to take a spot as a healer and then hamstring those who came as dps to do the job and earn the loot.
