I’ve seen a few people wanting the same thing I’m about to request, hopefully they can actually implement it in the game. Staff casting animations is what I’m asking, or at least an option to do so, for those casters who are okay without using their staves. It gets really boring when your cool looking staff just sits there on your back not doing a thing. We should at least hold it in our hands while casting a spell or be a part of the casting itself. It really does help fulfilling that mage or spellcaster role you’re going for.
I’ve called for this in the past as well.
I mean, why do we carry a staff or caster mace and not use it?

I agree that we need staff casting animations, but not for every spell though or else that’d quickly become boring as well.
Yes, absolutely. It should be used in some animations. Back then there was a glitch in the animation where when my human mage casts that Mark of Aluneth spell and after that she just holds the staff whilst casting all other spells. I loved that glitch tbh
While we’re at it, can we give Mark of Aluneth and missile stacks back while taking AP off the GCD?
while Rift did have its fair share of flaws, i loved that the weapons you used were implemented into casting animations each weapon had a unique animation, and it even changed if you were using a 1H sword/shield as opposed to a 1H sword/OH tome or even dual wielding 1H swords.
I don’t mind this but there needs to be a way to still leave it on your back and do the new “hand casting” animations instead for those who don’t want to be holding the staff. For example, I’d love to use the staff on my mage, but have it stay on my priest or mistweaver’s back.
If they can’t do that, I’d rather stick with the hand-casting we have now.
I did watch some gameplay for Rift and yes they did at least had some casting staff animations for spell casters which gives it a nice feel when playing that specific class
I think that would be cool. I like the new pally animations.
I agree, It should be as easy as toggling it like when you sheath or unsheathe your weapon, that should determine whether your spells would have that staff animation or not
I’ve always thought this was something missing from the game. Slamming the staff onto the ground to activate AoE spells which radiate out from the caster (such as Frost Nova) would be a nice touch. And this isn’t just for mages, any caster class would look cool channeling their spells through their weapons.
Sword and dagger cast animations would be nice, too. Tracing a rune in the air, or even just waving the weapon around (not like a wild, flailing, but with purpose). If there is a tome in the off-hand, having it open and glow a bit would be cool, too.
I would like to see this too, it feels weird as a caster to have my staff just sitting on my back. Maybe get some wave action, and like others have said, slam it into the ground for AOE spells etc.

I agree with this. Perhaps it may be done with a gliph. No need for new animations, but only hold the staff at hands while casting.
