AMD has limited stacked RAM on a 5900x with about a 15% perf uplift. Perf will be higher than 15% for WoW. Intel had stacked memory out 1st but they used a big/little core ratio and the CPU was an utter and total disaster.
Server CPUs will probably crush gaming if the 1GB of cache rumor is true.
I’m back on AMD myself witha 5950x and a Dark Hero due to the steal of a price I acquired these two items at. I must personally say coming from an Intel fan I am blown away by the dark hero.
It seems like this motherboard fixes most of my complaints about dealing with AGESA. It is much more tolerable on the Dark Hero motherboard.
I got worried with the 5000 series that AMD may lose their Edge to innovate but this announcement shows quite the opposite. I may prefer intel for stability over AGESA however facts are facts. It is a fact that AMD is currently leading the industry on innovation

I’ve been curious about the Dark Hero; I’m currently using the original Hero and wish to hear your first-hand experience about any differences between the two.
Reading all the experiences you had initially had me concerned because it was going on when I had just bought the 5900x (Jan) and was running 4000Mhz RAM.
I had acquired that speed because I’ve read that 1:1 may be possible at those speeds. Unfortunately, for the longest I couldn’t reach it; my max speeds hovered in the 3000s.
I remained patient… and at some point, one of those AGESA bios updates fixed issues and now I’m able to run at those speeds. Though, I have yet to tighten the timings. I’m reading how to do that…
The dark hero is basically an updated version of the regular hero. So not only does it look in feel more modern and to have a better build quality. I have noticed the bios is a lot less glitchy with it too and it just feels over all more stable in every way
Whether or not you think that makes it worth buying is going to be your call but I can tell you it’s been consistently in stock on newegg.
I myself would get it especially now with prices of the motherboards on eBay. You could probably sell your regular hero for a pretty decent price atm. But whether or not to get it really needs to be your call especially since you already have the regular hero
Ryzen 5K series CPUs also got a 50% cache speed boost recently. Not sure how much that translates to in games but for my workstation that was a noticeable improvement in workloads. The 5950X is supposedly the gaming king again. I dunno though, I’m more interested in the supposed 1GB of integrated HBM AMD server chips.
Edit:
AMD’s tech is good for fixing today’s bottleneck: memory.
Intel’s stacking is good for putting on compute chips and possibly better for future efforts.
Both good and both needed.

Well there is more different too. The bios on the dark hero is just so much more fluid and easier to work with right down to the mouse movements.
Working around in the bios Feels very close to an Intel. However on the regular hero even on the most up-to-date bios it’s very sluggish and feels more R&D like. As I said the dark hero feels like a more modern version of the hero motherboard. The dark hero bios is so close to Intel on feel, that when I’m tinkering in the bios I forget I’m on AMD
It makes dealing with AGESA much more bearable. I hopped on my coworkers hero and started tinkering around in the bios and the difference between his and the dark hero is night and day. Especially on over all responsiveness
