SSD vs other hard drive

Hello was wondering if i should reinstall Wow on my SSD i currently have it installed on my other hard drive that’s not SSD. how much of a difference would it make and is it worth it?

Running WoW off a secondary drive whether SSD or HDD isn’t really noticeable in the grand scheme of things because most of the game is held on their end rather than yours.

Personally I would pick the one that is NOT your OS drive, in case you have to wipe that for another reason (and because the faster you fill up your OS drive, the harder it is for your computer to do its work).

It helps with load times a lot. Which especially when you’re zoning into a big crowd can actually be pretty noticable.

Is there a reason you don’t want to install it on the SSD?

I can only speak from experience in game. Current WoW (retail) on my fastest HD has up to 30 -50 second load screens, and a 8 second wait for all the npcs and buildingst to appear. my SSD 10 seconds at most on load screens , everything appearing instantly. It has been this way since legion. GO SSD

This ^ because:

It is also worth noting that Shadowlands has SSD listed under minimum requirements. I don’t think Blizzard is expecting Shadowlands to run well on an HDD.

WoW and all games in general, whether offline or online, is best played on an SSD to cut down on load times. Not to mention adding more mods to a game - whether it’s WoW, The Sims 4, or Skyrim - will add to that load time, so an SSD will help greatly.

I recently replaced the 1TB mechanical hard drive in my desktop with a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD. It’s the first SSD I’ve had in a desktop. The difference overall and in Warcraft is stunning - faster, smoother, better in every regard. My computer dates from 2012 and now I get solid 60 fps at 7/8 settings (I use vsync so the fps is capped at 60).

Getting an SSD was the best upgrade I’ve ever done for a computer. And for me, this drive is large enough that I don’t need a secondary traditional storage.

Well, i got myself a 1tb SSD drive (for $100) and it works pretty nicely.

This SSD is going to be prioritized for Games that are particularly insane on the load times, like WoW for instance. The SSD made a world a difference by making the loading of the models basically non-existent, and possibly sped up the load times. (i say possibly, cause for me, i am running 30+ addons and they can eat the memory like fries and may contribute to the load times, cause the game has to load them in too.)

Here’s a video to (atfer your done putting the actual hardware itself in the computer) to add the SSD (or any drive you put in as an addition for that matter) though Disk Management on Windows 10.
