Which improves performance in-game the most?
I’ve got a Hyundai 960 gb in mine. Between BFA and SHL it helped a lot as i didnt lag like I did with my original harddrive.
I still freeze every now and then and lag. But then again my laptop is 5 years old.
Have a Samsung 1gig 980 pro etc. It is great. Load screens are pretty much instant.
The performance is mostly in load screens, no? I remember moving from hard drive to SSD and it took my Legion Dalaran load time from like 3 minutes to <5 seconds.
For gameplay/fps, etc, the biggest thing is probably CPU.
its is load time and stuff not gameplay
i’m a victim of capitalism so i have samsung
Technically better read speeds are possible with single and double layer SSDs because of challenges with rapid paging on triple, quad and higher layer drives. But it’s pretty hard to find a drive big enough to be practical at anything below TLC.
A bigger consideration than speed should be finding reviews of the SSD you’re looking for attached to your motherboard. Samsung EVOs are very popular but it’s also pretty common for them to go undetected by slightly older boards, especially if you’re trying to replace your OS disk. I buy a lot of EVOs at work and it seems like a lot of them are dead out of the box too.
In general I’d stick to Western Digital, Seagate, Corsair, Kingston and Samsung after comparing a size you like to user reviews or support tickets with your board.
Faster PC boot ups, cut scenes, and loading screens are much faster using a ssd. Some off brands are good, but lack in software.
Using these
Corsair MP600 Pro XT 2TB
Kingston KC3000 2TB
My rig waits for the network more than loading.
I’m using a z490 10th gen intel. Samsung is probably overkill?
Using a 1TB Samsung with no complaints.
Any SSD from a reputable brand and with a DRAM cache.
There are some SSDs with QLC NAND flash memory that’s a bit lower performance in return for higher capacity, like Samsung QVO SSDs. Just be aware those aren’t the fastest. Something with 3D TLC NAND like a Crucial P5 Plus (or any equivalent from other brands) will have more performance.
If you have the m.2 slot, and if it supports NVME (most do, check your motherboard manual), then it’s best to use an NVME SSD because those have more bandwidth than traditional SATA SSDs so they can perform better.
Hyello fellow comrade
NVME is better I believe. And if you have an M.2 slot open, just like with RAM, go with the motherboard manufacturer’s recommendations.
I have a Samsung 980 pro and a WD sn850 Black lol.
Both PCIe gen4 NVMe. Definitely overkill.
Overkill is better!
Samsung EVO 970 M.2
The biggest thing that increases performance if you have the money is buy a new computer.
Aside from that if you have a nice 10th gen i7 32 gigs of ram one drive and a 3060 and still get screen tears and slow load times is to have multiple drives.
On my pc I have 5 drives. 1 NVME 2 SSD’s and 1 spinning large drive for back up.
c drive is only for the Windows operating system and nothing else.
Drive D Is my swap file and temp folder. Edit windows environment variables to place
the User and windows temp onto d:\temp folder as well as the swap file.
Just doing the above will reduce your boot time to under 3 seconds.
E: drive is dedicated for just world of warcraft. The game loads super fast and
any perception of lag will just be from internet lag and not from the pc itself.
I use Inland NVME SSD drives - they work just fine and cost about half what the Samsung 980 did (when I bought them). You can get them at Microcenter or Amazon. The 2tb nvme cost about $90 (Samsung’s is $150).
Shouldn’t need much for a swap file w/ 32gb ram. Just curious, how much of that SSD are you dedicating for it?
