SS post reset

Peoples thoughts? Working it out i think i can do 15k SS based upon my int. I can do 12k raptures so im kinda like is SS going to be that good

I will be doing 19k instead of 24k SS on average. That’s a sad number.
Other than Sire and Hungering, something else would be better, Eva or switch to Holy.

On Council and Stone Legion, SS is still ok… somewhat, since the mechanics align with SS.

How much int do you have? i have 1446 x 11 equals 15906 SS. You must have a truck load more int then i do

When I play around on the PTR I think the most I had was a 16,891 max SS. That’s at 1524 INT.

1,841 ints

That without trinkets?

Yeah. Don’t forget to calculate food, mage buff etc.

i havent but i was more referring to base

Overall it’s about a 25-30%~ nerf to Spirit Shell if you’re hitting the absorb cap consistently which isn’t hard. Not really sure how big of an impact that’s going to make, but we’ll find out next week.

It’s about a 20% SS nerf for me overall. We’re gonna be an absolute garbage tier spec in Normal and Heroic Nathria. Mythic we’ll probably only be worth taking for half the bosses. 9.1 you can expect another nerf when priests continue to beg Blizzard to nerf us again for the sake of other classes.

As I said in another post, there was also 0 support from the priest community in general (partly due to holy vs disc rivality, but not just that). Compare that to malefic rapture nerf which was reverted after some whining. It seems like a good idea to reroll a class with a healthier playerbase.

I would prefer they gut SS and buff us in other areas. Areas that would carry over into mythic plus. Things like maybe more dps and buff in atonement transfer

SS is a pretty massive nerf, but will scale with int. Honestly it needed it, nobody really likes SS.

Evangelism is still a viable build in Nathria from top priest testing, so doubt we’ll see the complete death of Disc there. As for 9.1 raid, who knows so far. Likely Disc will see some changes in that patch.

The number 1 problem tho is gutting us mid tier, instead of waiting 9.1. What happens to the disc priest progressing right now?

Tbh i would prefer now so they can get it right for 9.1. Im still progging through mythic too, but this raid tier is almost ended and i would like everything to be in place for next tier.

I like SS and I like it a lot. It is a very cool way to heal. I don’t care if other healers don’t like that they don’t have to heal all of the damage a raid damaging ability does once a minute.

There’s a way to balance and there’s a way to cater to whiners by nuking an ability. Meanwhile shaman’s get to spam riptide to the top of the charts without wasting an ounce of mana and Paladins don’t have to use any mana at all.

If anything, this is a much more balanced spot for it. It’s definitely a harsh nerf, but it’s one that’s needed, and anyone saying that Disc is going to be gone after it is out of their mind. Not only is SS still decent, you can just swap to Evang and worst comes to worst, rotate Evang and Rapture ramps to the same 1 min. timers you were using before.

If the idea is that a Disc priest should be shielding the whole raid, then there is absolutely NO WAY that they should be undisputedly on top of the HPS meters doing so. That is simply not balanced in any way. Absorb healing is already flat out stronger than any other healing type in the game, and has significantly more uses in pretty much every fight type.

The thing is, Disc was already playing as a healer centered around cooldowns. The evangelism playstyle is pretty much the exact same concept, just more frequent and less forgiving to people who completely mistime it. So if it’s a ‘cool way to heal’ for you, then Evangelism should be too. Unless the ‘cool way to heal’ you’re talking about is simply to be overpowered.

The only actual problem is that they put SS back in the game. It was game-breaking before they originally took it out, it’s game breaking now, and being able to pre-heal damage before it occurs will still be game breaking in the future.

Ive done a lot of bosses with evang, and even beat some of my SS pulls on certain bosses so disc will be fine. Still been competitive. There will be some bosses that SS will still be good for and some that evang will be fine on.

You’ll still be able to progress just fine. Disc Priests were basically god tier on certain Mythic fights and they could easily do 8-12k hps whereas every other healer does way less than that because their heals are being sniped by the absorbs. Lowering the absorbs simply balances things out allowing the other healers to contribute more and less of Disc Priest being the crutch for the fights.

Also, with Disc being so meta it lead to problems for Holy Priests looking to get into progression guilds. A Disc Priest will easily get 20-40 applications to join a guild whereas a Holy Priest will get only 5 at most.

So hopefully these buffs to Holy and nerfs to Disc will get more Holy Priest acceptance in the general raid community.
