Squishness as a mage

Hello y’all! So I love the lore and looks of the mage class but something that always puts me off it’s how squish they are. I love hunters cuz you can solo pretty much anything, same for disc priest. So my question is, how are mages in bfa? Any way to combat the squishness?

Thank you.

Learn to kite… that’s the mage’s answer to being squishy. The ability to kite while also slowing your enemy is the process. Once geared you just blow stuff up before it reaches you.

As Enterri said, slowing and kiting is your only real defense versus anything. Though, if you dont have a shield/blink heal from azerite gear and there’s adds too close by, you can polymorph most things (one at a time of course) to get more space. Other than that, there isn’t much you can do.

Thank you all for the repplies, I like the the kiting but usually it only takes me so far, aka if I’m on a cave just end up pulling more stuff

I also use my frost mage for pest value. Slowing the enemy, CC, roots and slows, it can be really annoying for the enemy, but help your team out immensely. I kind of sacrifice myself for the objectives.

Not being able to passively absorb huge amounts of damage and having to rely on kiting or casted abilities like shields to survive makes the class exciting and fun.

Roll Warlock if you want to play a tank in a skirt.
