Is there an issue with low level characters entering this raid that anyone has noticed? I’m attuned on here. I have one of the bindings already, so I know I’m not crazy. I wanted to go in to farm my other binding can Lothos has no entry option dialogue for me to click.
Just tried to get into BWL and it says I have to be level 30… so am I completely screwed on getting Thunderfury on this character unless I level it?
Well considering the mobs in the zone are lvl 30 elite with the squish I would assume you will have to level it. That being said leveling is an absolute joke now. Currently on my 4th alt made during pre-patch and I am averaging 7-9 hours leveling 1-50. With a level squish comes little annoyances like this but It really wouldn’t take long to level to at least 40 (which Id assume you could solo classic raids at this level).
Yeh, but I have no real intention of leveling this character. Unless it’s to 29. This character has been level 70 for over a decade and was played as a twink in that bracket. The gear from Classic version raids are all level 25, so it seems silly to have a requirement for 30+ to enter. I hope this is an oversight.
I doubt it. Basically all end game content from vanilla to wrath (i think? Might be cata too) is scaled to 30.
I didn’t even realize that the loot drops are lower than level 30. Doesn’t that make it kinda silly to have the instances require a higher level than the gear (which is pretty much all BoP) does to equip?
I’m gonna have to agree with the OP in a way. I think the level requirements to enter these older instances should be lowered. Barring that, increase the level of the loot to at least match that required level. Imagine if we were raiding in Ny’alotha which requires being level 50, but the gear drops were for level 45s! That’s kinda how I’m looking at it.

Because it’s a legacy raid. The gear in there is not intended to be used. The whole twink thing is kind of cool but I don’t think that was in any kind of design
It’s certainly a legacy raid, but characters and instances should have both been squished down to the same level, no? If a character goes from being able to enter an instance to not being able to enter based purely on level, then to me that seems like something that should be addressed. After all, wasn’t it said leading up to the squish that ‘nothing would change’ as far as what content our characters are able to do? This was most directly referring to all the paranoid max-level characters seeing their ilvl drop, but I think something like this is a more literal example to the contrary.
Yeah I’d definitely say this isn’t what they were referring to lol. Fringe at best. It’s really kind of an interesting situation though that we haven’t been stuck in before because like I said they are scaling all of these older expansions together instead of separately. So you’ve got wrath gear and vanilla gear pretty much at the same power level.
Yeah, which is weird. The level requirements are all the same…but the gear isn’t. The gear definitely got homogenized too so that everything from an expansion is now the same ilvl, but there’s still a ‘power progression’ between each of them. Just seems weird that we now live in a world (of Warcraft) where you have to literally outgear an instance in order to enter it.
I mean to be fair before the squish you had to be 60, which is max level for that particular zone. Now that max level is 30 so it kind of makes sense. If you’re saying that level 30 greens are better, well that’s kinda accurate too in a way. Level 58 greens from Outlands was better than mc gear as well for the most part
Another thing that I haven’t even considered, is entering once level 70 raids. With gear squishes, there’s items that were once much more interesting that weren’t previously, such as Dragonspine Trophy. I’m assuming that I won’t be able to enter raids that were created for a character my level.
You should try zoning into Mag’s Lair or AQ since they’re easy to get to and see what happens. I’m going to try on my Druid (or maybe it’s my Pally? Can’t remember) that’s over 25 but not yet over 30.
Right now my working hypothesis is since (non-Chromie) Vanilla, BC, and LK content all crap at 30 now, and Cata/MoP at 35, WoD at 40, Legion at 45, that the new “level” for all Vanilla, BC, and LK raids is now 30, with trash up to L32. Gonna see what can be zoned into at 25, 27, 29 or if you straight up need 30 now.

Wanted to confirm: Cannot enter a Classic or BC raid while in a Timewalking campaign (I was in “Cataclysm” but pre-30 and MOP campaigns when I tried). Once you “return to the present” and are no longer timewalking, the error changes to “you need to be level 30 to enter this raid.”
Tested Magtheridon’s Lair and Ruins of AQ on a 25 and a 29 toon.
Classic raid gear remains Level 25 to equip and about the equivalent iLvl for other Level 25 gear.
I hope this gets fixed soon
Seems to me like it’ll just change the twink meta. 30 sounds pretty lit having 3 expansions of content scaled to your level
Has anyone heard on whether this will be fixed? Also are there anyone looking for people to raid this old content?
They haven’t acknowledged or said anything about it, to my knowledge.
Your best bet is probably to make sure you’re on any testing realms, making sure to file bug reports. Also use the in-game tool to file reports, and maybe try and contact someone on Twitter.
if this was actual content yes.
but this is just a Tmog farm now.
I would assume this isn’t anywhere close to their top 1000 most urgent issue,
cause… you know… there’s a big patch next week…
Hoping they fix this. I’m missing my MH warglaive. I don’t want to level because I think my gear would be obsolete compared to Wrath grear (for the most part).
