So excited how easy it was to get the Squally’s three friends Flash, Gale and Thundo. Only one that was hard to get was Thundo, if you get too close to him he knocks you back, so you have to move really slow up to him.
With Thundo it seemed that if you approach him from behind he won’t push you away.
I never noticed any difficulties, so I must have lucked out.
Although the spawn of a “guardian” storm dragon caught me by surprise, but since I was questing on my main it only took a few seconds to settle that.
The one that gave me the most “trouble” (and really, it wasn’t any trouble, I just kind of derped) was Flash. He flies a little circle over lava before landing back on the mainland, and I was impatient. I thought to myself, ‘Wtf am I doing/waiting for? I’m a druid, I’ll just fly up and nab him midair!’ Welp, I forgot I had Skyriding on and that it applies to flight form now too, so imagine my panic as I made an attempt to hover/fly next to Flash but almost nosedive straight into lava instead haha oops
I adore these storm gryphon cuties, I just wish they were fast enough to fly alongside me while Skyriding. And I wish I could have them all summoned out at the same time
They share the same interaction as Squally: will sometimes emote and playfully jump toward a nearby critter, causing a heart to appear over its head.
I had a similar druid derp with Flash, I fly up, landed in the lava and forgot Skyriding was on and sat there doing the “jump out of water into air” druid normal thing, which of course didn’t work and just killed me
I don’t know whether to laugh at some of the players or feel sorry for them. It seems that some players have nothing to do other than think of ways to be horrid to each other.
I got all of Squally’s friends. The only one that presented any difficulty at all was the last one, due to the players whose guiding purpose seems to be annoying everyone else. In addition to the spectral-looking giant bird that constantly pushed me back with winds from its continuously beating wings if I got too close, it seems there’s a bunch of players all camped out in that spot, on large mounts. Two warlocks set up portals, so as to warp the players to other end of the crater if they should try to click on Gale and click on a portal by accident. One set up a Blingtron, which I decided to get anyway.
As I dismounted and searched for Gale, it seems that players on their large mounts moved in my way, as if determined to keep me from finding Squally’s sibling. Wouldn’t those guys rather quest or do something other than be totally non-productive and try to stop other players from claiming their pets?
But it didn’t take me too long. Probably three minutes, tops.
And now I have all of Squally’s siblings. Even better, they are all different breeds.
And to top it all off, I even got a Mechanical Squirrel pet from the Blingtron, so take that, trolls!
That area also spawns some fishing pools that are on the rarer-side, so it’s possible they were trying to discourage any competition for those pools. Not saying that those players weren’t trolling (sounds like they absolutely were), but it could have been for a different reason than the pet.
You got your pets so no worries. You do you, they can keep doing them
Ah, that makes more sense. Since the pet community is small, it seemed very strange to me that there were so many of them, and the set up so elaborate just to bother pet collectors. I mean, since the community’s small, they could have a long wait before even one of us shows up to collect the pet. Seems hardly worth the effort. But then again, is trolling ever worth the effort?
ETA: Just in case anyone’s confused by this, like I was, you simply go to the pets, as you place your cursor on them, a hand forms over the pet, click on it, and the quest updates.
This newly acquired pet, however, will not show up in your pet journal. Don’t worry about this. If the quest updates, you got the pet. It’s only after you collect all three, then summon Squally and complete the quest, then the pets will appear in your journal.
Thats what got me. I’m like where do I go to turn this in now? Then I saw you have to summon the pet again to turn in the quest.
Glad to be of help. This makes Squally the fifth pet I’ve seen to actually give and turn in a quest.
While being a pet, that is. Some pets, like Taptaf and Ikky, give quests before they are pets to become pets.
The other four pets that give quests while being pets would be the four falcosaurs from Legion.
