Can anyone confirm they have had a Sprite Darter drop recently?

If my info is correct, it was an Alli only quest originally, added as a feralas drop in WotLK and Alli quest got removed in cata.

I know its suppose to be a very low drop rate but i have farmed it for a week now on different toons, off different mobs. I have gotten 15 Tiny Emerald Whelps off noxious whelplings in that time. Im thinking of getting a mob kill addon just to start keeping track.

Just looking for confirmation it still drops and im not wasting my time. It’s literally the last in game pet i need until MoP drops.

Not too sure how correct it is. I don’t have any alliance toons to check the stormwind vendor but I can check the deepholm vendor after restart.

Edit: Nevermind, Alliance NPC in deepholm, can’t do anything with him.

I got it off of Horde mobs in New Thalanaar about a month ago.

Someone in my guild is in the same boat. But with how low the drop rate is it would be pretty hard to know. All I can say is I got mine from a drop since I didnt play alliance before wotlk. I don’t remember exactly what I did but I think I farmed sprite dartlers, the mob, to get it.

I would not say RECENTLY (6+ months now) but I can tell you I got mine after the Cata launch, so it’s still in the game. RNG is awful like that and sometimes you wonder if there’s something wrong on your end. Keep farming them and you will EVENTUALLY get what you’re after.

You can just do the quest on Alliance if you have one.
Blizzard migh’ve also messed up and has it only dropping from the hatchlings still.

Went out there today, no quest available, so only drops from hatchlings.
At this point I’m not really surprised, Cata has been a bugged mess since launch.

Quest was removed in Cata, it isn’t a bug.

This item is a rare drop from mobs in Feralas.

This companion was previously a quest reward from A [48] Becoming a Parent. Since patch 4.0.3a, the quest chain has been removed from the game.

Update, looks like everyone has confirmed the info i was working under. I have done various farming at different locations(mostly noxious whelps and new thalanar grimtotem) over this week when able. Yesterday I focused on just Sprite Darter mobs for 3-4 hours, still nothing.

I dropped my 2nd one today while farming yetis for leather, so I can confirm it still drops. Sorry

I installed a kill-counter addon, I’ve killed over 9,000 Grimtotem Marauders and it hasn’t dropped yet but I’m holding out hope.

At this point I’m not relying on luck, soul-clearing grit, stubbornness and coffee is keeping me going.

Figured I would update and see if anyone else had more info. I have spent most of my free time in Feralas and still no sprite darter. I have started making a trip around the zone to kill all the rare spawns every once and awhile just to break up the despair. I have two hunters basically living there, one horde and one alliance.

Haven’t updated in awhile. I have mostly given up on getting a sprite darter. I had several other things I wanted to do before prepatch so have been busy with that. I still go by from time to time but only while waiting for ques. Has anyone else been able to get one recently?

The most likely truth is that it has a fixed very low drop rate on all mobs in the zone, so you need to find fast respawning packs. This is why I mentioned the constant fighting groups in New Thalanar.
