As the title suggests. Do you guys think spriest is about to get the nerf? I’m having a blast in 2s ans bgs…feel super tanky and heals are insane.
The title suggests an impending nerf, not that you’re asking a question.
No it doesnt lol
Wonder what that 1 edit did
You going to comment anything worth reading or?
Sure, now that your title isn’t bait.
For starters, you’re asking the forums to predict blizzard behavior, which is silly, barring any outliers in class performance that people can reasonably assume will be corrected.
Spriest survivability isn’t really an issue with the spec in pvp right now. Since this seems to be what you’re discussing in the body of your writing, I wouldn’t expect a nerf to our survivability in the near future.
Given that Spriests are a hybrid spec, they should have decent heals. Unfortunately, they’re not as tanky or have as much insane heals as classes that don’t have heals a natural part of their class coughDHcough
I’m expecting Mind Games damage on Shadow to be toned down a bit.
Ele Shamans and Shadow Priests are the most sus casters out in the field atm. I’ve seen multiple screenshots of Ele Shamans doing 150-200k Lightning Bolt crits on reddit and discord. Shadow Priests are doing 100-150k Mind Games crits as well.
I would say overall things feel a lot smoother than they did compared to the Shadowlands launch. That mainly has to do with the new gear system because it only takes a few hours to max out iLvl 410 PvP gear.
Don’t cast your uber damage swifty macro when the mind games debuff is on yourself? Problem solved!
Mind games is meant to give the spriest a few moments of not being pounded on. They have no mobility.
If you are pounding on him with the debuff on yourself…
/boggle
The other MG talents actually do an initial hit as well and it’s doing solid damage.
eeeh. PVP balance is mostly towards 3v3.
Heals get damped. Their defense is heavily reliance on their hybrid healing, which already is affected by dampening.
Flash heal is also a baked potato.
Most healing comes from Dispersion, swapping health, Vampiric embrace (which is already nerfed vs SL) shielding, or cardinal mending (if you sacrifice DMG for more heals). You can also sacrifice some stuff just for PWL talent…
And TBH, a lot of classes now have insane healing that is easier to use… even though they are not a hybrid…
Their mobility is poop. Most melee can easily stay on top of you if they wanted to. They are not Tanky. Tanky to me is that you can take dmg without dropping health so fast. We can’t do that, but we can definitely heal. But we are a hybrid class with 2 healing specs. And that healing also compensates for Blizzing making melee be on top of you 247.
MS gives us more instant cast, but there are cons to it as well. So even though we got more instant casts, there is a con that came with it.
Their dmg is very good. But it recently got buffed a ton because it wasn’t keeping up.
The main issue is just Mindgames being most of the dmg output when people crit high numbers with it lol. This ability in general is just a Problem. It’s so good that it FORCES you to get it…
Eeeh I’m not worried about nerfs.
They already left our Spec incomplete / Messy and decided to fix it throughout the seasons or last season like SL, again. I doubt they will do anything to make our situation worse and bring the pitchforks out again.
Honestly I think the complete opposite. I think shadow is a spec that, due to its poor mobility and reliance on hard casting to get going, is going to be pretty mediocre for the average player. But in coordinated 3v3 / in the hands of skilled players it’s going to be such a monster it’s going to get repeatedly nerfed anyway.
Shadow has been one of the best 3v3 arena specs in the game whilst having some of the worst burst and being the least suited to other content (2s RBGs) in previous seasons. Nothing it had going for it has gone away, and it’s gained a tonne of burst damage.
we’ll have to see to make sure IMO. And that’s what I’m keeping an eye on. Even though we have dmg, its nothing like the top right now.
MY demon hunter friend can consistently one-shot players, it’s funny. And thats just one class example. He actually gets surprised when he doesn’t one-shot someone…
Scenario – we do arena, i begin my setup. he charges in and one-shots. And I’m like… welp, that’s it we won lol.
But our healing potential is insane (if we sacrifice Damage output) I am not sure if they will allow us to do this much in the near future.
But the real two things that bump our value up is our utility/tools ( Minigames and Power Infusion) Not out heals or dps.
TO ME
The real strength of this spec is the Utility and control IMO. I can kill healers alone in the heat of the moment once I see an opening.
Fear → 50 percent healing decrease pet → Force silence → mind games → Stun fear. Its just toxic lol. The big deal is that Mindgames. Once that pressure is own, and with GCDS in between, it can be the reason why they kill themselves.
Also…
Being able to power infuse yourself and a Broken Demon hunter also makes you more toxic.
^ Too much power in this utility. And I hate to see this spec get nerfed just because of it.
I think blizz needs to suck it up and deal with this better.
right now dmg wise. Warlocks, Demon hunters, monks, and even shamans can burst just as much and more. SO I’m not worried.
We’ll just have to see the flow of the nerfs.
I’m more surprised at how the priest got NOTHING at all. Feels like Alpha/beta all over again.
I think there’s two categories of nerfs really.
Theres the ‘This thing is stupidly overtuned because XYZ ability hits too hard’ nerfs, and the ‘This spec is too good’ nerfs.
I don’t think shadow will be overtuned, so I wouldn’t expect to see anything for now while nerfs are heavily focused on getting rid of one shots and tuning specific outlier spells.
I think Shadow will be too good, and see nerfs later on in the season, as well as probably after that.
Why do I think that? Because that’s what happened every season from the start of MoP to the end of Warlords.
ok i get you better.
I agree to this. That’s what i see happening too. Especially with their comment on making big changes throughout the expansion instead of waiting for XPAC release. But i am just not worried right now. What worries me more is the above phrase. How much will change a few seasons from now.
To me the reason why I view this is what i mention above – this is our real power factor in pvp.
Our potential Healing output.
And our utility/control
Minigames and Power infusion with Twins Is just too good in pvp. It makes already broken classes more broken.
PI on AFF warlock - - nasty
PI on demon hunter – Nasty - Don’t even have to mention it.
PI on furry warr – nasty.
You will have a hard time balancing pvp with PI in the game. too much value.
Sounds good in theory, but I’d honestly like to know how you are getting close enough to a healer to open up with fears? I’m generally targeted first and have a million snares and other forms of crowd control on me while the healer is pillar humping.
Rule 1 of random bgs. People are dumb bad and fickle. Let people pick their targets / get into the swing of things, during which time you stay out of the way setting up your dots on whatever is just about in range. Make yourself effort to reach, and you’ll find opportunities to push forward and do disgusting things to enemy healers once melee aren’t scanning their field of vision for something to grip or charge.
You don’t need to be the fastest, or the furthest, just faster or further away than someone else.
I tend to use Psychic Horror if I’m solo, otherwise, you have to rely on teammates.
It won’t always be easy or in that order. Especially if you get trained. This is. Just the optimal scenario.
But usually I am pressureing The healer from start. Forcing them to tower hug, sometimes too much which helps us kill the dps
But in the heat off the moment, the Dpss will force the healers hand and put them in a bad position. So I am always trying to position myself well enough for those moments.
Other scenarios are when healer gets to full of themselves and try to cc me/challenge me.
It’s. Even easier to do in solo shuffle Cruze of the chaos. Won a lot of games by killing the healer myself haha.
Mind you, Easyer said then done
Funny how our healing got nerfed. You re assured me man! You re assured me we werent!
