Spriest getting trained in pvp

This is my weakness, how do you handle getting trained by say a warrior/ret with CDs popped? Just shadow-ball and run to your healer and hope for the best??

Don’t run, as shadow, all you can do is stand your ground when Dispersion is on CD. Remain a turret and attack and cast heals when shadow spells are locked.

The spec needs a full rework, especially for pvp. Given all the current rework of other classes, I think blizzard is commited to attempting to polish things out. I remain convinced that the devs just don’t know know what to do with the class yet.

Flash Heal early and often, then make them follow you into a bad position.

Try to position away from your healer but in their range, and drag melee out into the open / out of range or LoS of their own healers so they’re easy targets for other players.

In bgs the other thing you can do is play back and pre kite the melee, this means falling back as they push in and playing to always be just a bit awkward to get to. People in unrated PvP are fickle, you don’t need to be cowering way way in the back, you just need to be a bit harder to hit than someone else and you’ll largely be ignored. This requires good positional gameplay and awareness though so it can take some practice.

These are all great tips, thanks!

Definetly dont run to your healer. It will make him rage quit.

Have Precognition and hope they miss an interrupt, so that you’re actually allowed to play your character for 5 seconds.

Other than that, pretty much just stand there and die. This class becomes useless as soon as it is targeted by a single melee. They can lock you out of the game while dealing more damage than you ever could, even if you weren’t trained.

Don’t spend all game self-ccing by constantly trying to bait a kick so you can cast, you’re going to find the majority of average players will kick the first cast they see when tunneling you, so you can always cast a heal on yourself, if they kick it (it’s so frequent that I get both kicks the moment I’m trained) then you can free cast for a bit. If they miss a kick, they will likely throw a stun on you and so on. If they waste all this on you that means your team mates are likely able to play off that and your healer can keep you up more effectively.

If you see the DPS pop their burst and you’re not getting peels and your healer is struggling don’t be afraid to use a defensive.

We have a much better time than before with our current tankiness and kit, so as long as your team is playing the game, you being trained is going to five then the opportunity to make plays.

Obviously you’ll have varied results, but you have a much better chance these days, just don’t give an opportunity to get kicked when low, you don’t want to be locked out of popping defensive when you need them.

Also don’t wait till you’re 10% to pop a defensive because they already have more than enough momentum to just get a kill through that.
