Spreading My Wings - This Trust Level Three Thing

Recently, I was notified that since my Trust Level 3 was a “beta thing”, I would no longer have access to that forum. Not until I got 20k read posts under my belt and some other requirements which I don’t recall. So I got to work and went to some of those “Mega-Threads” folks recommended and start reading. I think I’m somewhere around 10k when I came to a screeching halt.

I’m in remission from prostate cancer, and if anything rung my bell about how much time I may have left, that (cancer) was it. My friends, I don’t have time to jump through any more hoops. My time is too precious for me to sit here and (sorry, posters) waste my time scrolling through post after post.

So after thinking it over, I have decided to remain here in GD, “spreading my wings” to include wherever I need to post and where I would feel the most welcome. For example, if I have a problem with a quest, I’ll post to the forum where nice folks like Nickaladean are waiting to help me out. Same thing with computer problems - Off it goes to “Hardware, etc.”

This is not meant to cast aspersions on Blizz or my friends. I love Blizz and I love my friends. I just don’t have the time to scroll…scroll…scroll wondering how many I “still need”. If I have time to do that, I have time to pick up my 6 string and play - something I have missed for quite some time now.

This is not a “ploy” for admins to make an “exception” in my case. Besides, I’ve been “breaking my mind” to come up with possible subjects to write about, and it was about to drive me crazier.

So whether you agree with me or not, I still love y’all, and I still consider you my family. You will just have to look for me here on GD. Or elsewhere.

Sorry - but I just don’t have the time.

We send our love,

Bill and Ol’ Jonãs

Yeah “trust levels” are just ridiculous. I’m sure I’d have it if I didn’t jump around on different characters but whatever!

It ain’t worth a thing.

My man. I hate to rain further on your parade, but trust level three on these forums means absolutely nothing. While I don’t think you’re not fooling around with the whole “cancer” thing, there are SO many more things to worry about than this place.

And besides. Your braincells are worth so much more than whatever the hell this place is.

Just saying.

I will keep watch wherever you post, my friend.

Having two hour commutes give me lots of time to read the forums. Don’t stress getting back to the lounge.

I agree. I’m not grinding forum rep and maintaining it weekly. It’s bad enough we have to grind out stuff in game— but we actually get to keep that stuff.

I don’t understand why it diminishes. I think if you’ve earned it, you get to keep it until you do something that breaks the rules.

Not unless they wanna like put a little bronze star or something beside our name to signify that we are a higher trust level and/or regulars

But GD is where I hang out all day long and reading tons of posts. Except for today because it was super busy and I finally just got off work now. But generally, I more than make up the required reading.

I’ve had to earn trust 3…three times now.

Remove TL.

Give everyone the same rights and permissions after they’ve read 100 posts and been active for 10 days. Or whatever numbers would be fair. Just whatever it’d be to discourage bots and spam posts.

To be fair, I do not blame you. One problem with just scrolling through thousands of posts means that in 100 days you’d have to do it again if you weren’t keeping up with the requirements. Plus it might be a little tricky on General discussion because the threads that get a lot of posts are usually the ones that end up 404ed.

TL3 lounge is eh. I don’t really see the difference between that and off topic, other than being “exclusive”.

They should make TL3 a bit easier to achieve maybe it would be more populated there and get a community made purpose.

It’s pretty eye opening how scrolling through 99.9% of social media is a waste of time. Spend today scrolling and next week ask yourself what you looked at today. You won’t remember. That is how meaningless it is for the most part.

Have fun playing your guitar! I used to not be on social media/forums much but lately I have been and thanks to your post I’m going to keep my own comment at the forefront of my mind and spend less time on it.

I am the Neo of the trust level system. I can defeat the mods. I have the technology. :robot:

go to mega-thread
hit middle mouse button, move mouse down a bit.
go play guitar while the forum auto “reads” the posts.

I lost my R3 recently after having it for years. I have no idea why, I have been a pretty regular poster and reader here and I have not been flagged much (at least not that I’m aware of). With my current hand problems scanning through pages of posts to try and reach an appropriate level is just out of the question.

So I guess all those cute images I made to add to my comments will sit and gather dust.

Don’t worry! Be happy!

You do what you need to do. I do find myself stumbling into the GD rather often, so you’ll see me around some days.

“All We Have To Decide Is What To Do With The Time That Is Given To Us…" - Gandalf The Grey

I am sure the devs had good intentions when they mapped out the requirements for Trust Level Three, but I do not believe they foresaw folks as old as I am not “making it”.

My dear friends, I don’t know what I’d have done without so many of you who gave me your time and thoughts, and I thank you for understanding my dilemma. In order to be with as many of you as I can to ask for help and congratulate you on your successes, this decision of mine is the correct one.

My time is better used reading posts which interest me, respond to them if I can, congratulate you on your successes, and just hope I don’t lose any of you by posting in the correct forum.

Not saying I would not achieve this goal - I’m sure I would. I just don’t want it to be one of the things I will have been proud of when my time comes. There are more important things to consider - such as, “Did I treat my brothers and sisters the way I would have them treat me?” To me, that’s more important than 20 thousand posts read.

Pharazon, thank you, my friend. I am sure you would not hesitate for one second, and I love you for it.

I signed on in 2008, right around Halloween time and it has turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. The other one was asking “She Who Must Be Obeyed” to marry me again.:blush:

Thank you, Brothers and Sisters. I am fortunate beyond words.
