Hopefully Blizzard manages to do the same for the Alliance players but so far it seems Blizzard insists on this renewal nonsense.
I am glad forsaken are getting theirs. At least they are listening to somebody.

That seems a tall order. Even if you just skim the Forsaken threads, and skim the Night Elf threads… you could come up with something that Forsaken and Horde fans could get down with… but idk about the Night Elf and Alliance fans, from the things they say.
Forsaken fans have been wanting to go back to Lordaeron. They wanted lore characters to question Calia’s sudden position. If she was around, they wanted her to do something. And they wanted a connection to Maldraxxus. Blizzard hit a grand slam.
The Forsaken Questline was pretty insular. It didnt involve other playable races being brought low to satisfy their ego. If anything, I hear Calia actually talks to Alliance Players about walking back the Forsaken aggression in Gilneas.
Most Alliance/Night Elf fans want the Horde to suffer some consequence more than to see the Night Elves rebuild and recover. If they had a beat for beat questline, they would be mad that there wasnt enough Horde punishment.
I’m hopeful that if they do get a beat for beat questline of what we got, they’ll discover how nice it all feels, and forget about everything else. Sometimes, when you have something good to look forward to, looking back at a painful past suddenly doesn’t feel worth it.
Honestly its pretty simple.
Its a victim and the bully storyline.
You want to see the victim rise up, take back whats theirs and take a stand.
And then to thrive in the credit scene.
All I am saying instead of Calia giving Gilneas back versus Genn planning an attack to take it back it would be far better.
Maybe Genn could have sent the Alliance player to steal the skematics of these blight cleansing machines so he can clean up the blight himself instead of needing the forsaken.
You know give Alliance agency in their own recovery than going door to door like a beggar. Tyrande is running to the Greens and Genn is running to Calia.
Oh yeah don’t get me wrong the bitter tears of MHP losers is just a sprinkling of sea salt on top of what was already a scrumptious iscream sundae.
Hint of savory in an otherwise sweet dish is always nice.
Speaking of fans if WC2 though, it’s occurred to me between Calia, Lor’Themar as King of Silvermoon and the Zandalari we now have a perfect storm to bring the Forest Trolls into the Horde.
I used this scene as a joke before but I could actually picture a coalition of Forest Trolls marching in to Silvermoon with Talanji, Calia, Lor’themar and the new Argent Crusader King Alonsos Faol there to hand whoever they crown Amani Emperor a light up toy from Spencer’s Gifts to signify peace.
We’re this close to the northern EK having a happy ending.
Edit:
Bah!!! We could’ve had this so easily!
Just would’ve needed the Belves to be genuinely struggling with a wave of Scourge then have the Forest Trolls slam into them and save the day as convinced to by Zekhan with some help from yer old pal Bwomsamdi.
Even make it cute with elf, Argent human and troll children shoving eachother around to get a better view of the parade. Could’ve been neat.
Just realized the possibility that all 5 Old Gods are merged with the Blight and the Scourge through Nathrezim Shadow Magic.
After all the Darkened Naaru that Alleria absorbed connected her to only N’Zoth and upon his demise his Voice was joined by new Voices which I assume are the other Old Gods.
If indeed the case why should Nathrezim Shadow Magic borrowed from the Void Lords be any different once it is one Azeroth? Tainting the Scourge and Blight would give the Old Gods all the means to control everything tied to the Scourge and Blight once Zovaal is dead.
Perhaps the Old Gods merged with Blight and unleashing it upon Azeroth is the True End Time spoken of by Murozond!
After all the Old God Y’Shaarj’s Art depicts him breathing something resembling the Blight!
Imagine a Siege of Undercity involving fighting all 5 Old Gods or better yet all 6 Old Gods(counting Xal’atath)!
G’huun the weakest would be fought at the Elevator entrance to the Undercity while the rest would be fought further in!
Y’Shaarj or L’ura/Alleria would be the Final Boss with Y’Shaarj’s 7 Heads breathing Blight and wielding it throughout the Boss Fight!
The Old Gods merging with the Blight(through the Nathrezim Shadow Magic involved in it’s creation) to turn it into The Colour Out of Space would be a very Lovecraftian Story to say the least!
That’s what the Horde has been enduring for years though. How many times could the Alliance have reduced the Horde to ashes but it decided to keep lording around by sparing it and and letting it recover ? The Alliance is traditionally given the white saviour-side of the narrative. A bit of role reversal would be nice.
So far, I only watched the cinematics available on Youtube. I really enjoyed Faranell’s dialogue. I’m glad to see that Forsaken apothecaries and their creations still have a place in Forsaken society. I didn’t really care about Calia at all though. Apparantly, the writers are fully aware that the Forsaken’s sense of identity stems from their necromantic origins, not just their ties to Lordaeron. They acknowledge that Calia doesn’t really fit in, but also, uh, handwaved it away. It would be interesting to see knowledge about Maldraxxus shape Forsaken society.
I don’t think you understand the problem from the Alliance PoV.
The Horde always makes the first move and Alliance makes the reactionary move, its like a cat tries to knock something off the ledge and you keep pushing it back in place.
Cat is proactive. You are reactive.
For alliance to break out of its reactive victim shell they need to deal with the Horde in a proactive manner. Like build forts, raise an army that patrols critical areas, build walls.
At the end of BFA nobody in the Alliance trusts the Horde, a piece of paper won’t stop them but maybe a stone wall with brave men and women will.
And thats the Alliance faction identity. its a military alliance to protect each other and that fantasy has been broken several times because we failed to protect diddly squat.
Because the best romantic subplot is Sylvanas and Nathanos. That’s what people have been teased since vanilla.
Past tense maybe.
I really disliked Nathanos in the 2nd half of the Sylvanas novel because he stops being a character. He could be replaced with a sock puppet Sylvanas is wearing and have the exact same impact on the plot.
If you love someone and see them doing something that is going to hurt them you intervene. He only hazards caution at the last possible second and then commits suicide via adventurerer when he’s shot down.
Poor writing certainly crippled this pairing but in the right hands they can be salvaged.
They just have to fire Christie Golden. I’m not a hater, I just don’t think Golden is doing this story justice and she won’t admit mistakes. The Sylvanas book was a huge flop.
Tbh I think they need new talent and more perspectives. Still really miffed they poisoned the well with Roux.
Her take on Anduin was the one and only time I felt the character was relatable. He feels like a young man in way over his head who never asked for this but can’t shrug off the responsibility.
Everywhere else he seems like a lamer version of Jesus Christ. At least he snapped off and chased people out of a temple with a whip that one time. Anduin can’t even through a right hook without Cthulu corruption.
Roux really changed my perspective on WoW books. Reading Shadows Rising was like a breath of fresh air.
So many WoW books have felt rather tedious, almost like studying the lore for facts to learn details, more than engaging myself in a great story.
Wolfheart. The Shattering. War Crimes. Before the Storm. Bleh. But they are video game books, after all. So I dont expect much. Shadows of the Horde was awesome, but that author was sadly one and done.
Roux really hit alot of the story beats I wanted mentioned. She was good at character building. It was just awesome. Sira is my WoW spirit animal, after that book.
I know Roux gets a lot of hate, but she wrote a good Warcraft book, so I hope she writes another one.
(The people who hate her… 99% of them seem like the basket of right wing deplorables who stand against everything I stand for… so that makes me like her more.)
She had some bad tweets after the 2016 election. It’s really not that big of a deal.
I’m so tired of this culture where we treat everyone like they’re running for President. It’s just not that big of a deal if someone had a lame joke or stupid opinion 6 years ago. Nor is it hypocrisy if someone changes an opinion after years of new experiences and perspectives.
We gotta go beyond letting her do another book, promote her to lead narrative designer.
Yeah I doubt Roux will write another book with how “devisive” she is and I dont think had particularly favorable opinions with Blizzard after the scandal.
I personally liked them because all of them gave glimpses of inner Alliance politics. Things like dwarves rigging a game of dice so the Dark Iron would be in the middle, Alliance making Varian the prosecutor so Tyrande would actually be it or just Gelbin hurling insults at Galawix.
I was outright baffled by the people who disliked SR.
It’s actual quality aside I thought it was the best multimedia WoW product because it expanded on the existing story in ways the game doesn’t have the time to.
Compare that to say War Crimes or Sylvanas. Those contain information absolutely critical to understanding the plot of the game.
It’s just outright unacceptable the plot can be sold separately. It’s contemptuous of the art and audience.
What scandal?
Geting brigaded by Asmongold followers is hardly a scandal. That guy is a joke.
