[SPOILERS] Why did Saurfang do that?

Why did Saurfang challenge Sylvanas to Mak’gora? Why? For what effing purpose was that done other than to conveniently kill Saurfang because it serves the story?

He’s literally like “yeah I won’t win this”. SO WHY DO IT? WHY ARE YOU DOING IT THEN, SAURFANG? WHAT does that accomplish besides whittling the resistance down by one leader, Saurfang?

This is one of things writers do when they have an outcome they want but don’t know how to logically steer the story in that direction so they do crazy, illogical stuff so we can get from A to B. Last season of GoT did this a lot. Danaerys’ dragon needed to die, so uh…it did. It didn’t make any sense, it just died. Because the story required that to happen.

Is there some motivation for Saurfang’s suicide that I’m missing here? If they at least would have made him act like maybe he could win and end this here and now it would have made a tiny bit more sense, but no. They wanted a dramatic, sad moment so they had him know he was going to lose without thinking, hey, if he knows he’s going to lose WHY WOULD HE DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

This is just atrocious. It’s on an enhanced tier of terrible. Who wrote this crap?

Pretty sure he knew he couldn’t beat her but he could win back the hearts and minds of the Horde? That’s my take. She took the bait.

Remember, he was there. He SAW her LOSE HER GOURD over Delaryn’s “final” words. He knew JUST WHAT TO SAY to get her rattled.

He had to show everyone that she didn’t care about them. He knew it but they needed to hear it from her own mouth. He took advantage of her emotions, struck a nerve, and got her to finally blurt out what we as players have always known.

Because he’s a big dumb Orc and always about Honor. Also, he wanted an honorable death since the fall of Undercity when he expected Anduin to kill him.

Honestly, challenging Sylvanas to a duel was about the dumbest thing to do, but since she bailed afterward, it leaves the Warchief seat open now.

To prove to the Horde Sylvanas was a liar and a traitor. And it worked.

Cause his death goaded her into slipping, because she’s a petulant child, and giving away she cares nothing for the horde, forcing her to double down on it, thus losing her leadership of the horde.

And he was the only person to die, instead of hundreds, if not thousands of horde lives.

He wanted to die in battle anyways.

Makes 100% perfect sense.

He thought Anduin would rez him :sob:

Oh okay. So he’s canonically dumb as hell and a tactical moron. Because that is the worst plan I’ve ever heard.

Yeah, it worked! It worked because the story needed it to work. Not because that makes any sense or that’s how people work.

Everyone in Org is all “my life for Sylvanas” but oh no an orc muh honor’d outside the gates. This writing. I swear.

Please read my entire post. Saurfang went into the battle knowing he would die. He didn’t do it to try and kill Sylvanas.

Man, I was sad Zappyboi didn’t call on the elements to try >.>

To draw out her true feelings. He knew he’d die. His hope was to get her to finally blurt out that she hates everyone and get the Horde to see the witch they were truly following.

Yeah, it’s almost like being called nothing, and being called toys and play things, and cannon fodder changes people’s opinion on their leadership.

I didn’t say the writing was good, but it does make sense based around everything we have seen since the start of BFA. Her screaming “For the Horde” and all this other garbage when in fact, all she cared about was herself.

Resurrection is only a gameplay device, from what the writers have said, it’s not something that is canon.

Makes 100% perfect sense

I’m going to start spitting blood, my god. If this is the audience Blizz is pandering to then no wonder the writing is in the state that it’s in.

I bet you loved season 8 of GoT huh.

This was honestly the best part of the cinematic for me. How sarafang played her game of 30d chess and managed to put her in check.

I actually hate GoT, and refuse to watch it.

Your the one tilting at windmills here.

the entire scenario makes sense. If you calm down and look at the situation.

Who did what?

I think you need to calm down and take a step back. His tactic made sense. No one said all of the writing was spectacular or something.
