Why did Saurfang challenge Sylvanas to Mak’gora? Why? For what effing purpose was that done other than to conveniently kill Saurfang because it serves the story?
He’s literally like “yeah I won’t win this”. SO WHY DO IT? WHY ARE YOU DOING IT THEN, SAURFANG? WHAT does that accomplish besides whittling the resistance down by one leader, Saurfang?
This is one of things writers do when they have an outcome they want but don’t know how to logically steer the story in that direction so they do crazy, illogical stuff so we can get from A to B. Last season of GoT did this a lot. Danaerys’ dragon needed to die, so uh…it did. It didn’t make any sense, it just died. Because the story required that to happen.
Is there some motivation for Saurfang’s suicide that I’m missing here? If they at least would have made him act like maybe he could win and end this here and now it would have made a tiny bit more sense, but no. They wanted a dramatic, sad moment so they had him know he was going to lose without thinking, hey, if he knows he’s going to lose WHY WOULD HE DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
This is just atrocious. It’s on an enhanced tier of terrible. Who wrote this crap?
He had to show everyone that she didn’t care about them. He knew it but they needed to hear it from her own mouth. He took advantage of her emotions, struck a nerve, and got her to finally blurt out what we as players have always known.
Because he’s a big dumb Orc and always about Honor. Also, he wanted an honorable death since the fall of Undercity when he expected Anduin to kill him.
Honestly, challenging Sylvanas to a duel was about the dumbest thing to do, but since she bailed afterward, it leaves the Warchief seat open now.
Cause his death goaded her into slipping, because she’s a petulant child, and giving away she cares nothing for the horde, forcing her to double down on it, thus losing her leadership of the horde.
And he was the only person to die, instead of hundreds, if not thousands of horde lives.
To draw out her true feelings. He knew he’d die. His hope was to get her to finally blurt out that she hates everyone and get the Horde to see the witch they were truly following.
I didn’t say the writing was good, but it does make sense based around everything we have seen since the start of BFA. Her screaming “For the Horde” and all this other garbage when in fact, all she cared about was herself.
