Well its in canon we have died more than a few times, from being sent to talk to Spirit Healers and their Dragon boyfriend or when fighting the Lich King and Argus.

We hear both their whispers again in Legion and see things happening in Storm Peaks and Silithus to indicate they are very much still around.
Also the bosses we fought of them were but a very small portion of their bodies. Yog is considered to have spanned most of northrend, which is how he corrupted Vordrassil.
I didn’t hear anything in legion about those dead bums.
