Alternate title: These guys suck.

A Rootwarden is responsible for the care and tending of the roots of the world trees. I am the Rootwarden for Amirdrassil, and as such, am rather new to my duties.
We tend to the roots and help to maintain their health. We keep away pests and any who would do harm to the great roots.

Pests? Haven’t seen the Rootwarden of Nordrassil yet, but I guess Archimonde, Ragnaros, a Legion invasion that nearly drained the Well of Eternity on the surface, or even an Azerite Leviathan were not quite the pests we took them for.

Ruia is the Rootwarden of Shaladrassil.
He has been mentoring me as I recently took up the mantle of Rootwarden to Amirdrassil.

Rootwarden of Shaladrassil? Ku’paal needs a better mentor. What was this Ruia doing during the total corruption of Shaladrassil by the Nightmare?
- Hagar
I was the Rootwaarden for Teldrassil. My duties were terminated with the destruction of the great world tree.
We haranir have lived secluded for an eternity, but we can afford no longer to think that we can remain this way.
The roots are but part of the tree. A true warden needs to be able to protect and care for the entire tree, even if the roots are their focus.
I will always wonder if there would have been something I could have done to stop the destruction. My willingness to hear you out was born in the fires that destroyed the great tree.

This mindset continues on into the Haranir starting experience:
- Hagar
This humble hut? I chose this structure, the center of Har’mara’s community, to be close to the roots of the mighty Teldrassil. From its very creation, that world tree, and its roots, have been through hardships of pain and trauma. Despite this, the roots are strong and willing to live on.
I look outside and think on our people’s hardships on our journey to Harandar. They left behind many blessings. Many of them perished on the way here. And then the madness.
Yet we are still here, strong, as our traditions are strong, giving us our identity.
As for Teldrassil, the roots will heal in time, as will the entire world.

And that very journey? Hagar tells us how that turned out:
- Aln’hara’s song was just an echo.
The goddess was gone when they arrived.
Without her, the land was falling apart.
After all the trials, and journeys, we hoped to find purpose.
Instead we found discord and death.
We blamed the missing goddess.
We blamed the land.
We blamed each other.
The goddess’ absence was not a tragedy,
but a trial–
One we failed.
When at last we found our way,
the elders feared what would happen if we returned to the surface.
So…
They forbade it.

That’s it? That’s what the Haranir’s traditions are entirely based on? Echoes of a goddess they have never met and isolation for tens of thousands of years because they were ashamed of themselves?
At least Hagar concludes:
- But we can’t stay hidden forever.
