Hell no. If there’s in anything in this game that shouldn’t be grinded, it’s picking a character to play from the beginning. For context, I personally have grinded out ALL the Alliance races and only Nightborne on the Horde side and even I think this is a NEEDED change.
I hope ALL future Allied races are available from the get go. If you devs want to make a race join a faction via a story and through a long quest line, that’s perfectly fine. Don’t make the player grind out a needless rep.
As someone who grinded the reps for the allied races, I welcome this change! Let someone do the storyline then do another questline to unlock that race! I think it’s an amazing change.
Nah imo this is reasonable. Some people don’t have as much time to grind, and reputation limiting their race choices is frustrating I’m sure. Also I’d love to see more Zandalari out and about.
I have them all unlocked and i really do not see why they were ever a gated item. I see no problem in the requirements leaving. Does not effect me in the least.
sad to see people insulting others with " you are being petty, or you are selfish" simply because someone has a valid argument. yes some are right when they say the grind should never have been but that is a moot point because blizz made it that way, but people being bothered by the work they put in that now is being handed over is valid, not selfish or petty , valid. Ive ground out all alliance reps with very little effort and time put in though I see some on here find it more taxing to do and seem to be the ones who have no issue giving away the free. if they give everything away free and not just the subject at hand but more things in the game that people will honestly stay playing? oh heck no, they will be gone pretty quick because the challenge will not be there in one form or another. achievements are suppose to mean something and be rewarding and something to work towards and many who have worked for these achievements just got a “why did I just waste my time? oh gee could have worked on other things and waited for new expac so I can skip this part because in the end it just got devalued”. so I do believe these things should not be given away and if people do not have time to play then maybe they should choose another game more suited to their lifestyle because without the challenge , without the story , without the achievements this game would be nothing.
Well I can’t say I enjoyed logging in on my hordie every so often to check if the Vulpera emmisary was up, but I knew I wanted the allied race bad enough to do it. It wasn’t a challenge by any means, I stopped reading quest texts long ago and was never much into the lore of WoW… however, I believe there’s some permanence to unlocking them before these other guys who just had to do a quest.
End of the day, it’s better for newer players and the more people paying to play, the healthier WoW is… in some aspect.
Another Fun Fact: (I’m trying so hard not to insult you), blizzard planned to reduce this grind a while back for shadowlands. Well. It is here now. And grinds have been reduced.
But of COURSE it couldn’t have impacted your precious… work… you did… in a game…
Did anyone else not just get rep doing normal daily chores? I feel like I never really went out of my way to get the Allied Races, but I’m glad they making it easier for new and casual players.
Let them play what they feel like it’s only aesthetics.
I’m glad they’re doing it. New players and returning players shouldn’t have to grind out 8 factions in well outdated content. Some of the achievement take time to do. That’s fine. But locking 8 races or something behind rep that’s no longer relevant is imo dumb.
requirements change from expansion to expansion, it’s not a slap in the face. i say that as someone who has them all unlocked save mechagnomes, and unlocked them while current. i’d be happy if they did this for pathfinder as well
For me personally who grinded out the Void Elves I sincerely despised doing so and felt next to no real accomplishment when I finished. Thats not to say that they should just hand them out to everyone as that means people like yourself who really grinded all the allied races out just had their hard work nullified. However I do think slightly reducing the requirement from Exalted to Revered or even Honored makes it so they still need to work to get the race
But, you can have both. You keep the things that were successful from MoP, like the classes, then concentrate on creating new modes and systems to play those classes through.
How they’ve woven Scenarios from MoP into regular gameplay and story elements is a good example of keeping and perfecting what worked while also being innovative.
Removing the reputation requirement altogether is taking things too far. A good compromise would have been to make it easier to grind reps from previous expansions. They did this for the Legion allied races and it worked fine.
It does not make sense to have an “allied” race that you invested practically no time allying yourself with. The quest requirement is something you can do passively while leveling and isn’t really an investment into becoming allies.
